which of these is best for trail riding and keeping the old knees warm in the winter! I think one is beefier and one for kids, but which would you recommend?

they're actually all the same..

the earth ones look coolest though, assuming they don't clash with your new bike ;)

just got a pair and I find them great, you completely forget you're wearing them.
They are a little bigger than they look in the picture though..

had a crash on my favourite knee again, so that's why I bought them. I'm going to wear them for a few weeks until I'm all healed. Don't think I'd wear them normally though.

But if its just warmth you're after, plain old knee warmers are good, I've a pair of these, and they even stop grazing in small tumbles too

If you looking for protection then get knee pads, if you want to just keep your knee's warm then use knee warmers.

I was thinking of capturing both warmth and protection!

They're not "quite" all the same

These ones (which I use)

have a layer of solid armour in the knee cap and so offer a bit more protection at the cost of a little bit more bulk however you don't notice them on at all.

After using them for approx 3-4 months I'd recommend them.

I've the black ones, and they have the same shell in the knee too
I think CRC just forgot to say, other sites mention it alright
