Calling all Sports riders:
Robin Seymour from Team WORC (who are running the first K-Capital XC race: http://www.kcapitalcup.com)
is looking for Sports riders to marshall the subsequent race categories (ie; Masters, Experts, Elites etc race) at the K-Capital XC at Kilruddery on Sunday 9th March.
Basically the marshall will ensure rider safety and assist in keeping the race
running smoothly - you'll even get a walkie-talkie.
Robin is willing to offer volunteers free entry to the Sports race plus refreshments - a great incentive if you ask me!!
Anyone who will DEFINITELY be able to help then please post back here or email me at fergal.kilkenny@gmail.com - note that you need to be sure that you can make the race.
Thanks in advance for your help

Sports race lasts between 40min and 1h30 (at the very very longest) have a look at last years times to give you an idea. It will be 2 laps for Kilruddery.

well i should probably volunteer for this, unless someone actually wants me to do their bottles for the races.
I'll be around to do bottles anyway...

are younot gonna marshall sean?
I could do either....
Fergal, how many marshalls have we volunteered?
As long as someone is there to do bottle handups, it doesn't matter to me a tiny bit...

You going to race sports Sean?
Nope, woudln't even make it through that right now...
However, all this spare time from not training has allowed me to perfect my bottle handing technique :-)

Thanks Sean,
I'll put you down as a definite marshall
Other volunteers to confirm are:
Shane Lavelle
Liam
Robin hasn't replied yet as to how many he needs - will advise as soon as he does
You can stick me down for this but looking at last year it might be tight (time wise ya dirty gits)

ok folks
So we have the following volunteers
Colm, Sean and Liam - if ye can confirm that ye can do this for sure lads that'd be great - thanks a lot
Robin is looking 1 or 2 more so if anyone else can give a dig-out that let me know
from the horses mouth:
"Course is amazing at the moment, so dry. Much faster than last year."
ooohhh yeaaahhh!!!!
thanks again
Yeah, I can do it, do we still get free entry to sports?

Shane L now also confirmed - thanks Shane
So will there be a person for bottles for the race? (Sean? I can give you my DSLR to take pics too if you want) Mel and I would greatly appreciate it! There is enough stress (at least I get stressed) before a race without figuring out bottles etc...

I'll need someone to do a bottle for me too .. it'll be easy though as you'll hear me huffing and puffing from a mile off, and i won't exactly be going past you too fast either!

I think Barry had volunteered for bottles?
Let us know Barry - we'd need a backup also if anyone can help
Let's make it easy on our 'bottlers' by labelling the bottles clearly!
I should be able to bring along some adheisive labels to stick on the bottles
It would also be REALLY handy to have some kind of rack for the bottles to go in - ie; so they don't fall over on each other in a bag and get mixed-up - anyone any ideas in this respect?
I'm thinking about some kind of racking like they'd have in a shop....

that would be great if you could do mine Barry
assuming I do masters that is,
thinking about it now, I recon I'll be so far behind I'll actually look like I'm leading, oh yeah, bring on the cheers

sure one, one handed person is all we'll need for this as its unlikely any of us will be that close together after 2 laps that it'll cause issues.
And mine too :)
I think you remember my labeling last year. Post it with name and lap number on them :) 5 laps - 4 bottles - easy :)

haha lads, i'm the mad bottling whore now am i?!?!
i'll see what kind of system we can work on race day, i won't be there on saturday as i will be working hard in in B&Q!

I hear Shane has all kinds of systems. You should consult him on what system would be appropiate for the number of bottles and carbon content on the day.
Barrydanzig
05-03-2008, 05:59 PM
how about this system;
lap 1 - bottle 1
lap 2 - bottle 2
etc...
will that work or am i just thinking too far outside the box..?
Cormac
05-03-2008, 06:06 PM
how about random selection... You get what your given

You should consult the master bottle distribution system as written by Shane.
Fergal

all mine will have the same amount of 'roids and epo in them so I'm not fussy about sequence
in return Barry I'll do you a compilation CD by Disfear -- freakin' heavy metal maxxo, you'll be banging your head and screaming for Satan in between bottle-ups!!!!
Yeah - consult Shane. He had it down perfectly last year :)

Jeez Fergal, how many times have I told you to take the epo BEFORE the race, not during!!!

sweet fergal, methinks a cd like that will pass hours of time spent on a turbo trainer!
with all the people who need me to do bottles it looks like i'll need to assemble a team of bottlers for the race, preferably a crack commando unit who were sent to military court for a crime they didn't commit and promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade. now i've heard there are lads like this who are still wanted by the government and survive as soldiers of fortune in the LA underground. if i have a problem, if no one else can help, and if i can find them, maybe i can hire...The A-Team.
i'll see what i can do.
barry "hannibal" o'brien.
