Was thinking of something big for this Sunday. Need to have this confirmed by tomorrow morning to get something concrete up on the site so shout if your up for it.
Thinking of 3 rock-Prince Willies- Pcourt- Bstoe-Djouce- Home by road
OR
Crone-Sleepers-Pcourt-Bstoe-Djouce-Crone
Feeling fairly energetic at the moment so spin will be steady and relentless ;)
Let me know what you think,
Steve

I think option 2 is better. But i dont mind either way.

Option two, including the hellacious climb up to the summit of Maulin and the spine-shuddering descent to the river?

Oh, and an early start - say 9ish?

My vote is option 2 as well. And yeah an early start would be good cause I've something on in the afternoon.
Oh and I'll try not to lock myself out of my car again, with my keys, phone and bike still in it like last time.

That was fairly savage... Headed out from Crone carpark at 9.30 and up to the top of Crone. This climb has become really hard since the waterbars were put in. Very tough indeed. Then up to the top of Maulin and descended down to the bridged river. Still a tough but doable descent. Next time I hope. Climped up to ACK (avoiding the sleepers with the wind) and down ACK before hitting the road and onto Ballinastoe. Flew around all the new stuff in Ballinastoe dicussing the way the tracks are crash proof and who are our style icons. (some lovely models cycling around in the most fashionably atire, think we need to rethink the club gear. Not enough gold for my liking)
Cylced back out of Crone and down through Djouce and into Powerscourt. Just the last climb from here to Crone.
45ish KM I think. Completely savage spin. near 4 hours riding with 4.20 for the whole spin. Sore now... Night
Me, my spin today was a road race. Flogged myself (getting my legs ready for next week). At one point I bridged from the peleton up to the lead group. They were about 40-45 seconds ahead - it took 5-6 minutes. Averaged about 60kph and was about to get sick when I caught them...
Fun - but very tired now :)
I'll be writing a proper article about the race on my blog, tomorrow probably.
As Steve said - night.

jolly good chaps - a lot of hardship endured but ye will be reaping the rewards come race-day I'm sure, how many were on the Crone spin?
Took a brief road spin today to the Park - around the trails and back to try loosen my gammy knee up - 20hrs total travelling back from Arizona near killed me - squished into an economy seat my knee just swelled up and I had to hop off the plane - worst still that we landed and were stuck on the tarmac for an hour - thought I was gonna lose it, just wanted to get out off that damn overpowered sardine tin!
little excercise for 3 weeks has me worried, was thinking of doing an hour blast in the mornings this week, combined with evening spins, possibly too much before the weekend but we'll see...

Yeah that was a good spin from Crone to Ballinastoe and back. I rode the downhill bit in Ballinastoe the fastest I ever have - was in the air for most of it I think! But still all a bit predictable compared with the real trails around Djouce.
Fergal - I wouldn't over do it this week before the race. Just my opinion though.

There was 5 of us out today. Paul, Oisin, Morgan, Myself and Conor. Sounds terrible Fergal. Oisin's right though, don't over do it. And stay off the road!
"After a good year last year young Ulster rider Conor McConvey was all set to battle it out for Ireland's one Olympic spot starting next weekend at the first round of the K Capital Cup. During a training spin last Friday however, McConvey was hit by a car and in the accident broke his shoulder. This will see him out of action for at least six weeks and probably longer to get back to competitive off-road racing. This means the battle for the Olympic XC spot will now be fought out between Robin Seymour and Niall Davis. The first round of the K Capital Cup takes place in Kilruddery next week. "

Good spin today alright. Strange thing is I really enjoyed that savage climb up Maulin. A real toughy, but well doable. Roll on Sunday, slowly but steadily!!

Yeah, nice spin. A bit too much time spent watching Steve pull all sorts of stuff out of his tyres though.
There's a new track up at Ride Rock. I decided to check it out at the end of the spin, expecting 200m or so of trail leading over to the wall. Instead it turns out to be 3km of steep hairpinned track that climbs 400m, all the way up to the gate at Maulin. Great way to end a spin. I'm looking forward to tackling it downhill though. I have a Google map of the route if anyone is into that jive.
