I likes takin photos I does. It'd be nice to get some good MTB photos, unfortunately being fairly crap, I fall off a lot. This doesn't seem like a match made in heaven. There's the additional problems of mud, water etc.

Does anyone bring a DSLR around when doing a big spin to get quality photos, or just stick with a cheapo compact ? Any good backpacks for preventing camera trashing?

Shop where I work does a brand called delsey that do padded camera backpacks.

check out our website www.adamsonluggage.com/shop

Now I don't have any of the camera ones in stock but I can order them in for you, alternatively you might find them in the camera shops on Grafton street.

Also, I have an olympus camera, which is shock and water proof, perfect for mountain biking pics. http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_digital_sw.asp

Seems decent and gets good reviews. Cheapish too. I don't recall bellyflopping after falling off the bike yet, so could be a good location

Do I dare utter the name: stw. How is it possible to hate a place so much, yet return to it so often? I digress.

One of their number carries his camera across his chest. Their search function is bad and they don't archive posts unfortunately, so this is all I've found:

I guess it is comfy enough and he feels it better than in a backpack because you don't have to mess around to take the camera out, it's right in front of you.
