..for making one of these for my non-porn MTB movie:

I need some of this square aluminim tubing and stuff - anybody have any in their shed?
or where i can get some cheap?
Also-I'm looking for some small rollers - not sure if the inline skate wheels
like this one uses will work as I'm likely gonna use fishing line monofilament to run it on
cheers big ears
Would 2 of these (http://www.greatoutdoors.ie/shopping_admin/product_details/product.cgi?product=CEP006&cat=Climbing%20Equipment&sub=Climbing--Climbing%20Essentials%20-%20Pulleys) work for the rollers?
I'm sure they can be had a lot cheaper on t'interwebs.
You'd probably have to go to an engineering suppliers/fabricators for the alu square section, but you could probably as easily make it from wood, no?

for rollers something like sean linked to or pulleys like you'd get at a sailing or climbing shop (or any sport involving ropes ... except bondage stuff!!)
And yeah, wood would be best to begin with anyway .. perfect the design and then make it indestructable

Would it be simpler to get a climbing harness to begin with before making one of those frames? It would be shaky enough I'd imagine but would be cheap and quick to set up.
Not necessarily - you need to have a lot more rigging for sending a person along a rope (a bigger rope for starters (10mm static rope) which are expensive) plus some way of controlling their speed, plus a path clear enough for them to slide through, plus some way of getting them to hold the camera steady.
A rig would make things an awfull lot simpler, and safer.
But what is all this for???

You can buy lengths of aluminium (box section and flat) in B&Q that would do the job nicely - check with our inside man. I might have some of the flat strips for making the pully-holder bits in my shed.

I can loan you a rope..however you might want to talk to SHAM on our forum..he does this kind of thing for a living..
I'm not speaking to Morgan..i forgot to invite him to our AGM..and he didn't bother his arse gatecrashing..so i'm not sure if i should apologise or give him a bollocking !!

nice one engineering fiends
I won't be sending someone along it - just the camera
and the pulleys need to be one-sided so it'll be easy to just hook them onto the line
keep those out-of-your-box ideas coming .....

I might have monofil somewhere, 50lb strength. But it tends to stretch quite a bit. How long are you thinking? I have wire too, but maybe only 10mts or so. (I used to do sea fishing in a previous life, thats why I have all this stuff.)

hmmm- I used to do a lot of coarse fishing - I must sell all my gear and buy a new bike - what about braided line? does that stretch less?
