I thought it would be useful to have a thread to gather together some Garmin info.
First of all - from Richie - how to start your 305 if it locks up:
First off try pressing the Mode and Reset buttons at the same time, then the power button. Which is even useful if it has locked up whilst in use.
If that doesn't do it, then try pressing the Reset button, and then press and release the Power button.
If that still doesn't do it, then press the Power, Mode and Reset buttons all at the same time.

Here's another good one:
Press Mode to access the main menu
Select Settings > System > General
Set Tones to Off/None
This will stop everyone else getting annoyed with you.

Another one:
Don't leave your Garmin plugged into your switched-off computer. For some reason this'll drain the battery completely. Imagine being ready to head out on a spin to find the Garmin out of juice. It would hardly be worth going at all.

So what's the best site for storing your stats and such? I've setup an account on motionbased.com, it seems ok, although I haven't paid for the full subscription yet.

For the PC, SportTracks (http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/) is great software, apart from all the charts and graphs etc. you can see your route plotted on a (decent) map or satellite image.
