Firstly thanks for all the info on the frame size issue of my Canyon.

Just one more question regarding my forks. They are roxshox reba with motion control and poploc remote on the handlebars. How do I stiffin the travel on the fork? I connected my shock pump to the air valve at the top and it is reading 10 bar and I could not pump anymore air in. However when out riding there is only approx 20-30 mm of the suspesion showing and this obviously decreases even more when hitting an obsticle. The poploc remote will stiffin the suspension and lock it out, but you have to hold the remote lever in. There is a little button on the remote also, to the right of the lever, but does not seem to do anything.

The manual I got for the forks doesn't make me any wiser and suggests that the remote should not need to be held in place. Any ideas? After this i'll just have to go to a bike shop and see if they can do anything for me.

Thanks

Kenny

Are you sure any air is actually going into the fork? When you attach the pump to the valve, does it read any pressure. With 10 bar in the positive air chamber the fork would be extremely stiff and hardly compress at all.

There is also a valve at the bottom of the fork (negative air). If the negative air is set too high then the fork will sink down into it's travel.

On the Poploc question - no, you shouldn't need to keep it held. It should click into place and the little grey button releases it. It could be a couple of things - the cable may be too taut so the lever can't get to the point where it clicks in place. Alternatively it might be broken.

Hey Morgan, thanks for the reply-

The left hand fork tube has a cap you can remove and the air valve is underneath. I connected my shock pump to it and the gauge read 10 bar which I thought was very high if not impossible. I had a pair of marrazochi forks and ran them at 4 bar.

I was unaware of the bottom valve for negative air. Is this easily adjusted?

It would really annoy me if the poploc remote was busted as the bike is less than a week old and has only been out on a cycle path for 15mins just to try it out!

Would any bike shop be able to sort this problem out for me. I can't see Canyon being too helpfull on the matter as you are meant to inform them of any problems with the bike within 24 hours of delivery. Trouble is I know little about the fork and didn't know if it was normal or not. Suppose thats what I get for buying my first real decent bike over the net.

don't worry about the first 24 hours business
That's only in relation to shipping damage..

the bike is fully guaranteed.
At a guess the poploc problem could be related to the suspension travel problem.

I'd suggest reading the fork manual from top to bottom, lettng the current pressure out from the top valve and setting to to the recommended setting for you weight.

And take it from there..

You'll be on the trails in no time, and if you that pissed with the canyon I'll buy it off ya

There should be a table on the leg of the fork which shows the suggested positive and negative air pressure for your weight. The negative valve at the bottom of the leg works in the same was as the positive on the top.

Hey lads thanks for the replies and suggestions!

A bit to go on there. I'll try letting all the air out and re-setting it again.

Diamond G I'm not really piissed off with Canyon, its just that it took months to get the bike and I despritely want to get it dirty!!!! Having to send it back would be a nightmare!!!

Thanks again for the help, I'll try all your suggestions tonight.

in fairness you would have every right to be pissed at them.
I've been there myself.. the waiting game on the first bike and then them taking my money and not giving it back for a whole month, after they realised they didn't have the second bike..

having said that, when you're up and running they are class bikes

another suggestion, If you have access to one, try another shock pump, just in case..

Hey lads,

Spent a bit of time on the shocks last night. Read the manual form top to bottom. I have sorted out the poploc remote! The remote was too close to the gear shifter and the lever could not go all the way forward and click in place. A quick repositioning of the lever on the bar and it was sorted. Happy Dayz!!!

Then started on the compression of the forks. Read the table on the fork and pumped in the advised amount of air into the positive and negative chambers. Had the bike upside down to but the air in the negative chamber. After finishing I didn't see any difference in the tension. However I did notice a big puddle of oil on the floor! I take it this means one of the sealing rings is busted? And I take it this is whats causing the problem with adjusting the tension?

If I send it back to Canyon I might not see the bike/fork for a month or more, so I think I'll bring it to my local bike shop. Even though I didn't buy the bike off of him he will probably fix it for cheaper than I can send the fork back to Germany. :(

feck - that's a pity
it sounds like one of your seals are in trouble alright
as far as I know TF Tuned (http://www.tftunedshox.com/contact/tf-tuned-shox.html) in the UK repair Rockshox parts but unsure if they do warranty support (ie; free of charge)
might be worth you giving them a call to find out
