Achtung! Achtung!

Forget your mountainbiking nonsense - the best way to get fit for racing season '09 is on the road.
Assemble at the Papal Cross carpark of the Phoenix Park for 10am and we'll go for a lovely tour of Meath and its environs, approx 3 hours.

Any questions, this is your place to voice them.

Sean

edit to say: If its icy again this weekend, forget about it.

Can't make tomorrow (typical, it would be the day of the weekend with the best weather) but if anyone is on for a road spin on Sunday give me a shout and we can organise something. Mind you reading the met's forcast, maybe we should just stay under the duvets from about 8pm on Saturday evening. Colouring and bolding added by myself for effect...

SATURDAY NIGHT will be bitterly cold, in a light to moderate northerly wind. Temperatures inland could fall as low as minus 5 degrees. There will be a widespread sharp to severe ground frost, with icy stretches on untreated roads. Wintry showers of hail, sleet or even snow will affect western, northern and possibly eastern coastal counties, but further inland it will be mainly dry. SUNDAY will stay very cold and wintry with temperatures in low single figures at best, in a moderate to fresh northerly wind. There will be sunny spells, with further wintry showers mainly in northern, western and eastern coastal counties. Frost will be widespread and severe on SUNDAY NIGHT.

Richie - had considered moving the road spin to Sunday to accomodate the mtb spin on Saturday, but looked at the weather forecast and thought that the likelihood of us actually getting out on the ice was pretty poor, so stuck to Saturday instead.
Anyone actually coming tomorrow?

Actually - Saturday's weather doesn't look too inviting either.
Anyone on for a turbo trainer session? ;)

get up to Crone you fairie!

By "inviting" I mean a good chance that someone will come a cropper on ice and we'll have a smashing good time (smashing of collarbones, that is)

Cormac you think I like all this gym idea? I'm punishing myself for eating sweets…
and trying to get ready for this: http://www.bikechallenge.pl/
You can change the language in top left corner.
Have to make my decision till the end of March so I do my best;)

It was meant to be my secret weapon, I shouldn’t tell you which gym I signed in to…

Mel and I were the only 2 brave enough for today - 95km for me, probably a little more for Mel.
Nice spin, wasn't too cold or windy. Definitely no ice!

We did Park - Clonee - Dunboyne - Maynooth - Kilcock - Clane - Celbridge - Newcastle - home, which is nice route if anyone is looking for some flat kilometers in their legs.

I did a short spin too, around 70km: Rathfarnham - Enniskery - Roundwood - Ballinastoe - Enniskery - Glenculen - Rathfarnham. Hope to go Tommorow again. Weather should be ok till 3-4pm
