When I was servicing my bike last night I noticed that my low limit screw and plastic casing that holds it in on my Sram X-0 Rear Derailleur has fallen off. It was screwed pretty much all the way in so I am guessing the plastic casing must of split or something.
Do any one have an old scrap X-0 rear derailleur that they dont need the screw and plastic casing from any more? or any idea if you can pick these bit up seperatly from a bike shop?

you could probably get by without it, it may mean that the derailleur would move and rise too far and therefore close to the spokes, actually.. no.
you probably won't get by without it
some fancy cable tweeking could sort it.
If the cable was loose enough that no matter how much the shifter raised the derailleur it never went near the spokes, then.. it would never go near the spokes.
unless something knocks it in that direction.
you'll know if its going in that direction, you hear a clink clink of it hitting the spokes and then either a crunch or if you're quick enough a change of gear

I have just gone for the fact of trying never to use the big ring on the bike else if you shift to hard the chain falls off over the top. But in the end I will either need to get a new limit screw (bodged in some how) or a new derailleur.

Would rather just buy a limit screw :->
Going to go back to XTR next I think all the SRAM stuff I have had has given me problems.

yeah that sram stuff is brutal, Ollie I'll take the x0 off you if you're throwing it out :)
ps: preferably before it does a full rotation of the wheel caught in the spokes

sram >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> shimano

I had that exact same problem Ollie. I kind of got around it put it was never great. Fill the metal hole with glue and a furrel fits in. Wait for the glue to dry and you can strew the limit screw through the furrel. It's not very exact but it worked for me.

Sounds like you ought to warranty the derailleur. Don't put up with that kind of performance from a 200 euro part! Someone might have a spare X.something derailleur to lend you while it is being dealt with.
