I would like to have the option to do some XC races over in the UK this year. However, to race abroad you need to get a special overseas competition authorization for €20 and this can only be added to a full competition CI licence (the one that covers all disciplines including road) and costs €120.

So to have the option of racing abroad I need to pay €140 whereas a standard MTB licence for racing within Ireland is €85. That means I'll have to pay €55 extra just to have the option to race the odd UK XC race - and I'm not even sure I will get over to any of them.

The only other option I can think of is to buy one day licences over in the UK but I heard that you can only race sports or elite with them for some reason.

Anyone know any other way I can race the odd race over there without having to get a full competition licence?
