One of the issues mentioned with the bike I bought on review sites is that the headset is not sealed. They say that this is an easy problem to solve, but don't say how!!

I've read on other sites that people use old inner tubes to seal them up. Has anyone tired this technique? Any tips/better ways of doing it? Does it really need to be done?

Replacing it with a sealed headset maybe?

You can stretch some inner tube over it, but if left in place all the time it'll hold dirt and water in even better than it keeps it out.

Your best bet is to regrease it regularly.
