Apparently the Moneyscalp 4x track is opening this Easter. I'd love to try it out, I assume it's pay as you go, but it'd be great craic, a few of us could head up and throw a few races together...

Prepare to be dominated lads....

Does anyone know how a bike like the Spicy would fare out on a 4x track, or would a 100mm forked hardtail be better?

yeah, the most suitable bike I have for 4x is the Reign

I think in an idea world it'd be a hardtail with 100, but I wouldn't put my xc one through that

Shane had a great idea today, if we had the skills day in Marley, we could do 4x on the bmx track on the same day, recon it'd be a deadly buzz!

Sounds cool, can't wait to give this a lash, there will be elbows all over the shop...

Hey Tom
yeah we open the new 4x from Good Friday, will be open easter weekend, and then every weekend and bank holiday until summer when we start to open during the week too.
photos and vids will be on our new website, launching very shortly.
4x track is currently 400m, looking at adding further 100m if can. will host our own event on August 22nd, as part of King of the Dirt weekend, which is a board comp too. expect that some of the bike shops/groups may want to have events staged here too.
Cost is £17.50 for your first visit, each visit thereafter is £10. Prices include your track membership and uplifts.

Sorry lads, time to show some ignorance...what is 4x ?

Four cross - (4X, also known as 'mountain cross' or 'bikercross') inspired by the dual format and by BMX racing, this event pits four riders on the same course from starting gates to finish. There can only be one winner per event, so the races can quickly eliminate riders making the progression faster for a day's events. This is the reason it was chosen as the race-format to replace Dual-Slalom by the UCI at World Cup events. 4X also replaced Dual in the UCI World Cup series in 2002. There is a difference between 4x and mountain cross. The difference is that in 4x, riders are each given a run down the course which is timed and the top 50% of the field then progress to the elimination rounds. In mountain cross, riders are given 3 heats against 3 other riders and points are allocated for your position in each heat. once again, the top 50% progress to the elimination rounds. 4x is the format raced in world cup however mtnx, is the preferred format for amateur races.

I would definitely be on for this. Have the perfect bike for the job too :) Nice little carbon number with a crack that wants to be broken! We used to do races in Marlay back years ago. Deadly craic with the elbows out racing to get on the inside of that first right hander!
