you the got the canyon, that's what I like to hear :)
canyon are great
I don't know of any sites for tips on cleaning bikes, but I've never looked, do a google, I'm sure there are loads
most important thing about cleaning a bike, new use a power hose in a garage, it gets into the bearings, forks cable covers etc and its far from good for them
in my humble opinion to most important things to keep clean are the drivetrain.
chain
cassette
chainrings
deralleuers
keeping these clean will make them last longer and keep gear shifting smooth.
I bought this chain cleaner (because it was cheap), and then some citrus degreaser in halfords
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=10195
as part of a bare minimum clean I'd do the forks(to wipe off any muck and dirt so it doesn't get into the inner workings of the suspension).
the remainer of the bike
I keep clean and try to wash after every spin also, but its mainly for cosmetic reasons (although its a good way to spot problems)
so if I don't have time, I'll get it after the next spin.

you better believe it Richie :)
I always stopped into the local esso for the jet wash.
after replacing the free hub (as the bearing were fluthered) and watching my graphics start to fade on the frame, I'm a new man, no more quickies in esso
I now have a 'low pressure' washer from lidl, does the job, you just need to spend an extra 1o minutes at it.
Its good though, €13, holds 5 litres, you pump the pressure into yourself and away you go.
i mind you it looks as bent as an s hook :)

drivechain is important, everything else is really cosmetic.
It may be quick, but again I'd avoid the jet wash
