Morgan, if 2 'carless' people don't need that life, I wouldn't mind car pooling as it will only be me heading up. Alternatively, if there's more than 2 I could take someone also.

Fergal
23-04-2009, 08:31 AM
yup!
I'll be there - looking to wreak some vengeance on a few EPIC riders after a crap result in Ballinastupidschlompywhatthehellisthis
I likely will be up there on Sat showing them the timing system so will sneak a run or two in, it's only up the road for the north/westerners after all

Brilliant race today - really got my stoke on :) (even if I didn't manage to catch Mark...). The course was long, and tough but really enjoyable, great feeling when you managed to clear the singletrack well.

Well done to all our everyone who made it up for the race, particularly our podium finishers, commiserations to everyone who had to drop out for physical or mechanical reasons.

Hopefully there won't be too-long a delay in getting the results up - I hear they were being done manually.

Fergal
03-05-2009, 07:59 PM
they were manual I'm afraid, and I'm not sure if all results were captured...

I really can't understand the issue in using the laptop system - I arrived early to show the timekeeper exactly how to register riders and enter the numbers as people finished and all seemed just fine - all riders got entered ok
The timekeeper was not advised of when the categories actually started,
thus the categories were not started on the laptop until 2pm, approx 15 mins after the start.

Also a 'problem' with the keypad was reported - I tested it immediately afterwards and it was working perfectly
I have done a lot of testing on the system and it works without any problems.

Very disappointing considering that this system runs without any issues every Thurs eve at the EPIC club races, and also worked fine at the first NPS of the season in Kerry.

I'm hoping the manual results are complete, accurate and have lap times etc..
I will advise as son as I receive them.

Ah yiz are all gas! :)
Yes fantastic race with great singletrack, tough climbs and a bit of grassy rooty fun stuff in between! Hard work though - all four laps!

Loved the climbs, much work do be done on my technical ability though...as is evident from being 13 minutes behind 1st...but sure we'll get there. Thanks to Phil, Paddy & support crew in feed station!
And of course to Richie, for the support & encouragement throughout the race! ;)

Well done also Oisin & Steve who blasted past me on my 1st lap, Fergal who blasted past twice, after his mechanical! And Arek, Gene, MarkG etc who all similarly flew past at different stages! Fair play Lads!

That was a deadly race despite the mess up with sport's results. The singletrack was absolutely deadly- some of the best I've ridden I reckon. Loved the first section you descend after the fireroad. So offcambery, edgy if you will.... Sure the climbs were even pretty good! The tarmac was a nice and short chance to get liquids in before bateing down the fireroad and that kicker before the long slog back was a real lung buster. The long slog back was even good! Managed to hang on to one of the McCabe's wheels on one of the laps and before I knew it I was descending that class singletrack again! Gave you a chance to see how far the leaders were ahead too so always someone to chase.

Cheers to Nick's bro for doing the bottles. You have competition with that pro Shane! 15quid for all of that as well?! Bargain! Hard luck to the lads who couldn't finish, the techie karma gods will be good to you in the next race.

Yours,
The most stoked XC rider in Ireland

great race but a pity there's no results for sports, I know my time but would be very motivating to know the position, especially if you're a beginner and want to see if you are making any progress, reached a new max HR on Sunday, probably from a good bit of running with the bike on the shoulder on the technical sections :-D

What a race. Really enjoyed myself on Sunday. THose off camber rooty mubby sections were such fun, you just didn't know which way the bike was going to slide next.
Had a great battle with a couple of IMBRC labs right up until the end. PAssed and EPIC rider on the last singletrack section with a puncture, looked like he was going to cry, two hours of pain and then that!

And thanks to Gavin and Phil for the bottles
