Hi cianrancorson
It´s ok for me, i have free from friday trough sunday, which days can you ride? I´ll be in dublin centre, where can we meet? because i have to look on a map for the directions. I´ll try to ride the tree days (if Dublin mountais are not to hard.......) if you can ride more days or there are more people to ride that weekend let me know.
Going to Glendalough for paths outdoors is possible or is too far from Dublin?
I´ll try to do my best rides in that weekend

Hey Berty,
I'll be working during the week but can take you out as discussed before on saturday and sunday. Maybe a shorter spin on saturday and a long long one on the sunday if that works for you?
The best place to meet would be the yellow house pub in rathfarnham .. about 5km from the city centre.
There is a google map link on this page
http://www.madmtb.com/club-rides/
We can organise the time etc closer to the day, but we normally start at 10am.

I'll join in on that too. I was thinking of doing 3Rock to Powerscourt that weekend anyway. I'm getting borred with all this serious race "training" so a blast on the Trance is in order.

Hello Paddyobrien and conor
Nice to see you again in the forum, it´s ok for me what you propose, at the first time i do not have any problem with the time to meet. In the long spin i understand we ride morning throug afternoon, i mean we need to carry some food for the trip like sandwich, energy bars, etc, i need to preparate all this thinks. anyway like you said next week we specify all that stuff. i´m going to check the map link to make sure i`ll find it. It will be nice to meet a lot of bikers to make a memorable weekend.
see you soon, and thanks for your help
Hullo chaps,
Just be aware that there's the Wicklow Way Ultra and half marathons on that Saturday (12th) so there'll be approx 100 runners between Prince Willies and Lough Tay moving at variable speeds and unlikely to be happy about being run over by a gang of bikers....

damn fit people always spoiling everything for us fun types!!
no worries though .. we're planning the long spin for the sunday so unless they have some serious stragglers we should be fine. And any runners still on the course at that stage may be dead so we can just cycle over them!!
Heartless ... me .... never!!
Berty, yep for the sunday long spin you should count on bringing food and water/drink to keep you goign for 5 or 6 hours at a decent enough pace. Whatever that means for yourself. For some its 3 bottles, for others it requires a refueling tanker half way along!! We'll come back on the road so there will be shops to buy food and drink to get you home

Also bring 10euro or so for a chocy bar and some REALLY bad coffee in Powerscourt!

do not worry about that i am always ready for the war? My camelback is full of food, water and tools i do not want to be missing in combat, however i think for those rides i will try to keep the weight because this forum seems to be plenty of training people jajajajaaj

ah yes .. but training is all relative, personally i've been training to survive not training to win!

i'm agree with you paddyobrien, many years ago i've trained thinking no pain no gain but now a days i train to enjoy of the outdoors and myself, my pulsometer (i think is the same name in english) doesn't come with me for two years.
i still go for work by bike and ride outdoors three times a week........if my daughter let me do it of course and along the year my club (Club ciclista Ferrol) organizes some long spins around Galicia (Spain) i think is similar than your club because we have some sections of rally, freeride and DHX. Hopefully a lot of young people has joined us last year and we have many people sopporting us and talking about mountins the height in Dublin is similar than Galicia. I don't know too much of history but i think we came from the vikings like you jajajajaja.
See you my friends

I'm here agan Ciarancorson, Paddyobrien said that the best place to meet is in yellow house pub in rathfarnham, i looked for it in the google maps and this is the link:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=es&geocode=2542533289448072728,53.296568,-6.285682&saddr=tolka+quay+rd&daddr=The+Yellow+HouseWillbrook+Road,+Rathfarnham, +Dublin+14+%4053.296568,-6.285682&sll=53.336818,-6.237831&sspn=0.048278,0.1157&ie=UTF8&ll=53.311801,-6.233025&spn=0.096612,0.2314&z=12
It is closer from Dublin than Taylors Three Rock Pub, isn't? i guess it will be better to meet some of us in Yellow house pub and continue to Taylors Three Rock Pub to meet with Ciarancorson. What do you think?
Paddyobrien is the link correct with the direction of the yellow house pub?
I prefer that some of you organize the place and the time to meet and i'll follow your directions.ok?

Hi Berty,
yes the links to Taylors and The Yellow house are correct.
As Paddy says, The Yellow House is a better place to meet, it is a little bit closer the city centre (maybe 5 kms) and easier for you to find. We will pass Taylors pub on the way to the trails, so we can meet other people there also.
Paddy suggested 10am, so if that suits you then its a plan.
what kind of bike are you bringing with you? Is your main interest cross country?
There are alot of nice trails nearby, so it should be good!!
Paddy is probably in the pub at the moment, training :)
But he will confirm the time and place later.
Graham
pd: bring a rain jacket with you on the spin, the weather can change very quickly here, and get wet and cold.
But don't worry, we still cycle in the funny weather ;)

Hello diamondG thanks for check the links, the time you decide it's ok for me. My bike is a Trek Fuel 90 and cross country it's ok for me and my bike we are thirsty of mud, rocks, roots........... whatever expect roads :)
The weather is not a problem for me because in Galicia we have a lot of rain too, i think not too much as ireland but enough. i'll bring my rain jacket.

One question, two friends would like to come with us next saturday but they'd like to know how many kilometers are we going to do and which is the level of that spin. At what time more or less will we finish?

ciaran, we're doing a big long savage spin on sunday. Will announce the details later or tomorrow, but everyones welcome who can keep up (i'm not that fast or fit anyway) and there's loads of drop out points as usual, though most require about 20km on the road home
