schweet! now for the stupid questions......how far is this from downtown dublin? i am going to be staying at the westin downtown. i have been on the fence about bringing my own bike over from the states. this just might clinch it! anybody have extra space in their transport for a tag-a-long?

It's a manageable cycle (figure 1h20m) but there will be plenty of lifts available on the day. Of course if any of us give you a lift you might be roped in to help mark the course or make tea or inflate the GIANT ARCH! :)

Bull - The Beacon or Bewleys Hotel would be a lot closer if moving is an option - 10 minutes cycle!

yeah, that would be good, but the company is footing the bill and their contract hotel is the westin. how long a drive to get from downtown to the 3rock? may look at renting a car for the day, then spend the night close. sense there could be the possibility of pints after the spectacle???? regarding the inflation......fortunately, i do not possess the skills to inflate an arch orally!

(anybody got a link that would point me to a map to get oriented?)

I'd say a fat man could cycle from the Westin to 3rock in 20 mins, so don't bother with car hire. As for spending the night close to the event, I'd knock that idea on the head too. Hire a cab if your going on the beer.
