just bought a set of kenda tubeless tyres, to trying to setup ghetto tubeless.
I now realise that is not going to happen, the tyres won't actually stretch onto the rim.
I thought it was because of the 20" half tube, that it was making the rim that little bit bigger, but OH NO... that's not it
it turns out that even without the half tube, the tyres won't stretch onto the rim :)
are tubeless tyres the devil?
how the hell do you stretch them onto the rim, they laugh at metal tyre levers, laugh at them!!!
the bleedin tyres feel as small as 20" BM effinX tyres
I've heard stories of people putting them in a bath of hot water, what's the world comming to?
I have to get ust tyres in the mood with a frigging hot bath :)

hey graham
The trick is that the very centre of the rim has a kindof well in it. So you get the first side of the tire on with the bead sitting in this well all the way around except for the bit near the valve. With the rest of the tire sitting in this well you should have enough slack to get the tire on that last bit.
Same trick for the second side of the tire. You shouldn;t even need tire levers, certainly i never have once i learned this trick (those maxxis tires i sold you went on easy enough to my tubeless rims.
Apparantly you should not use tire levers with UST tires because you might damage or stretch the bead. I find it hard to believe you'd do much damage as compared with the abuse the tires normally suffer, but at the same time its something to bear in mind

lads forget this tubeless malarky, get yourself some standard maxxis advantage tyres with a wire bead, i was out tonight on a pair and i'm not used to having that much grip, it was an experience to say the least!

I hear you Barry, and those maxxis advantages are great, nice and gripy, they last forever AND they are vitually puncture proof, I was even running them below 30psi, they still didn't puncture
hmmmmmmm I'm asking myself, why am I bothering with tubeless?
I have a feeling when I finally manage it (and that won't be with ghetto, my rim and tyre combination don't like it), its gonna be a bit of an anti climax
but the savages disagree, so I want to give it a try

Just mounted a set of Maxxis UST Crossmark on my stans tubeless kit for this weekend... No service station high pressure pumps or anything just a track pump and a glass of wine in one hand and the pump in the other.
Happy days....

Crossmarks?! Ha! They are so round one and 2.. The second half of the series calls for a new and improved tyre selection. I will have all brand and model names covered up to protect my secret. Working off a tip from an elite is the only hint you'll get.
