Hi

I tried replace my rear disk K24 pads with Superstars over the weekend. Pushed the pistons out of the way as much as possible but they were still too tight. The pistons were virtually flush with inside of the brake and would not go in any further. The rotor could barely fit between them - realy tight. Put the old ones back in the meantime.

Has anyone else had this problem with Superstar pads or Formula Oro brakes.

Superstars are fantastically cheap but if they don't fit...

Hi Ben
nah - mine worked just fine - but you could try sanding the pads a little to get them to fit - unless you have really thick rotors? which would be unusual

Hey Ben,

i'd the same problem too. actually anytime i changed the pads..
As far as I remember superstar and formula's original were all the same though

when you have the pistons back in the cylinder,a 2 euro coin and a small spanner/metal tyre lever were recommended to me after I ruined a piston..

if you can get the pads on and rotor back in, don't pull the lever and leave overnight. It might rub a bit the next day, but then using it should sort it.

failing that, I put one new pads on with an old one, assuming there's still a bit of life in one of the old ones

Try putting the old pads back in to the caliper and use 2 strong flat head screwdriver to force the pads apart to push the pistons back fully.
