hey, details going up soon on this weekends plans, but they're not suitable for beginners unfortunately as the pace will be fairly fast and the sunday one will be an all day long afair.
If you check back in a few weeks there should be more beginners spins kicking off then.

How long have you been biking erykkartman? The Saturday spin will not be very long or fast I imagine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you could tag along on that and we can show you our trails on 3 Rock.
Check the www.madmtb.com for details

Hi Yohan,
Yes it is possible to ride to the yellow house. Directions are here: It is only about 4 miles from the city centre and just a quick spin to the trails.
See you in the morning, I'll be the one on the freeride monster named Jim ;)

Think the single speed might come out tomorrow....

steve, it still disturbs me that you gave your bike a guys name! I'll hopefully have the enduro with me tomorrow to save my knees and shoulders from the beating they get on the hardtail.
Errykartman person .. read the front page .. its says 2pm!

Think about it, Jim lives in my shed with Claudia. The two of them live a very happy life together (its mostly physical, all about the sex with Claudia tbh) So you want me to have lezzers in my shed? ............................ You may have a point Paddy.... ;)

yeah, you cheated on the way home!
Conor

Down with that sort of thing! Although credit to Jackie and Ash for completing their first savage spin. I think we managed 60kms,and I enjoyed almost every one of them.

Yep great spin... Some nice new trails that I have never done before and also some very painful climbs up the waterbars to maulin but worth it for the single track.
Came out at about 63km on my Garmin in the end so nice distance ride. Good to get back doing some distance after all the racing that has been going on lately.
And yes lots of cheating on the way home...
Barrydanzig
13-04-2008, 06:33 PM
how do you cheat on a spin?
i'll assure you, there was no cheating on the training spin richie and myself did.
cycling up rock and roll is nice, very technically challenging with those rooty turns, but glad to say we managed them all! the fireroad climb from the mad club course to the aerials is a thoughy, especially when its done twice. very good practice for the next race, the legs were burning when i got home!

Yeah, not a bad old run out today - but you'd have to call it a semi-anti-fun spin. Might head out on Tuesday about 6pm to do more of the same - looking good weather-wise too!
All bruises and cuts are coming up a treat also :-)

If any one wants the route from today they can download it from
http://www.mtbguidebook.com/routeFiles/3_Rock_Prince_Willies_Maulin_Djouce_13-04-2008.kml
Or view it on google maps at:-
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=http:%2F%2Fwww.mtbguidebook.com%2FrouteFiles%2F3 _Rock_Prince_Willies_Maulin_Djouce_13-04-2008.kml&ie=UTF8&ll=53.215079,-6.227188&spn=0.194896,0.6427&z=11
I'd be quite interested to know how exactly one might "cheat" on the way home?
Does it involve anything to do with internal combustion?
Scrivo

I was going to say they cheated by taking the Enniskerry way home instead of the slog over the Featherbeds but looking at Ollies GPS, I think he went through there.
Holding onto someone?
Oisin
14-04-2008, 06:15 AM
No we went back the Enniskerry road. I went on ahead so didn't notice the cheating but there was talk about bungy cords and pulling people along for adventure races and things - maybe thats what was going on?
There were a load of goats crossing the road at the scalp. Jumped right out in front on me. A car nearly hit them as well. Madness.

Apparently holding onto someone's arm on the way home on a training spin, constitutes cheating! Sorry Lads must have missed that one in the MAD Terms and Conditions and Code of Ethics!
Not that I asked, Alex offered....and we weren't aware it was a race home!
Jaysus won't do that again!
paddyobrien
14-04-2008, 08:55 AM
ah bless .. you're so easy to wind up! (and yes .. section 3, paragragh 5)
;-)
And it wasn't a race home, except for a race against the cold and the iceblocks that were my feet at that stage.
Jaysus steve, if taking the road home is cheating then call me a cheater every time!

well as long as you enjoyed cutting the grass .. it did sound exciting alright!
Yep, it was a great day out, furthest I've ever cycled I think, plus there were snowball fights and everything :o) Not sure I'd call myself a savage yet though, a lot more work to do on the uphills to keep up with ye!!

sounds very romantic to me - lezzers in sheds, frisky goats, "arm holding" in the Featherbeds...
looks like you missed out on more than just a spin, Diggler Diamond!
