Oisin, Fergal and Steve are pleased to announce a derailleur hangar straightening service for club members!

Did you know that a poorly aligned hangar is a major cause of shifting problems and even brand new hangars are not correctly aligned.

On the off-chance your hangar is actully straight (less than 4mm deviation) obviously there will be no charge.

In order to claw back the ridiculous customs charges laid upon them for their new hangar straightenig tool, there will be a nominal charge of 2euro per straightening, or you have the option of paying a once-off fee of 5 euro for lifetime use of this awesome tool!

Come along and avail of this excellent value service at the KCapital Cup Round 4, we will also accept tips for our friendly and efficient service!

Even straight out of the box many bikes have hangers which are off centre or twisted. Straightening will especially help those running SRAM rear mechs as these have a fixed (non-floating) top jockey wheel which is less tolerant to badly aligned hangers. Although even Shimano mechs with the floating jockey wheel will experience reduced performance if its badly out.

cool, I'm in for the lifetime use!

mine must have taken a few knocks recently.

the rear mech is definitely out of whack, it looks like the hangar is twisted and the gear change is not as smooth as it once was.

Bugger I wondered why that bike never had any gears now it all becomes clear.

Is it €5 for the lifetime of the tool, my bike or until I die.

I've recently replaced all my gear cables and have my front derailer working properly but can't get the rear one working, i.e. can't get gears to change smoothly.

Anything you can do for me there?

Old cables or an improperly aligned hangar can definitely cause that Liam, sounds like you have new cables - always good to oil the cables before you put them in, in order to reduce friction & increase smoother shifting

we can do a simple alignment check on the hangar to see if that's your problem...will you be at C'wellan?

this morning I straightened one that was bent in both directions (vertical and horizontal alignment way off) - was going to throw it out at the time but said I'd hang on to it - glad I did now.

Also straightened 2 spares (both new) and the FR bike is next for the fettling...
