I'll pop along to this if thats ok? I live in Greystones and have been to Kindlestown but would like to learn where to go in GOTD. I'll check on Sat to see if this is still on.
Thanks

Howdy all
What Shane should be advising (seeing as these spins are not being posted in the Members-only section) is that these are beginner-type spins, and that you are welcome to come along on 2-3 spins to see if you like MTB/the club.
If you think that the sport/the club is for you, then you are expected to join by following the info here (http://www.madmtb.com/clubrides/how-to-join/)
Once you become a member, you will be granted access to our Members-only section where you will have access to all the spins info etc..
We also do trailbuilding days several times per year, and all members are expected to get involved in at least 1 or 2 of these days per year.
The rewards are huge - you get to sculpt and shape some brilliant trails, you get to know your fellow club members, and you develop an awesome physique at the same time.
You will also earn points towards the hallowed title of MADMTB Club Champion which should be happening in the October/November timeframe.
Cheers

I was under the impression that interest was the only deciding factor, and that interest was now appearing..... I promise the spin is all yours and I have no desire for the heinous crime of spin pilferage. :)

Thanks Dave, see you in the morning.
I'll come along to this this morning as well. Hopefully won't end up in VHI Swiftcare this time!
Good fun that today guys, until my derailleur snapped again. At least it was a mechanical this time rather than a trip to A&E!
Hope the knee banged back into place ok Shane. Will send you a pm re a new bike as I can't be arsed spending any more money on the banger I have.
See you at the next one

Thanks for a great spin lads. One knee, one derailleur and then one MTBer almost gone after flying down a drop, turning a few somersaults and ending on some sharp rocks... Write on the forum if you're ok, maybe that was just adrenaline that made you look alive for a while... By the way, is 112 the proper number in such cases?
Good day anyway, hope there will be more spins like that (without any victims though) now when the racing season is over.

New Club Policy:
It is necessary that you go on a couple of beginners spins and if you survive them and still want to join the Club you're obviously MAD :)
Savage spin again, and yes 112 or 999 are both the numbers... not that anyone will ever nead them, right??? :o

Yeah, great ride, shame about the couple of injuries. I think it might have been Muddyfox that went for the fall? Let us know how you are!
All the newbies did well, and show some good potential!
Thanks to Shane for organising the ride, Dave for stealing it, and Karl for leading us around some nice GOTD trails!

Wow, that was some eventful ride today folks. I hope the lads who injured themselves make a speedy recovery.
Thanks for the MAD folk for taking the time to show us beginners a good taster of what its all about. The trails were good fun and the people very sound. I'll be signing up for more of that.
Niall
Great spin lads, hope Sean is ok.
I am signing up during the week.
Are there any plans for a mid week spin or next weekend.

Howdy all ! yeah Muddy-Fox is still alive ! Had a great day, thanks to everyone from MAD, some savage trails ! Went to A&E to get checked out, all the x-rays came back fine. I have never had to do anything like that as an inititation into a club !!! Next time you see me I will be in full body armour !! Cant wait to get out again, will keep an eye on the forum for the next spin.

fecks sake lads (I'm talking to the spin 'leaders' here) - you didn't make those poor guys go down that monster drop in GOTD did ye?
DaveS
31-08-2009, 10:42 AM
There was no monster drops, I promise. There was a downhill switchback that was quite a challenge though... even before 2 people fell I don't think I'd have tried it.
(just for the record I was at the back making sure nobody was left behind and had never been to GOTD)

Just got a wee reminder from you (Fergal), the second spin I did with the club was in 3 Rock and guess what our last trail was... Romper! with no warnings as to just how dangerous it was (still is!).

What time did this spin end? I got back to the carpark at about half 12 from errrr... another spin and everybody had already gone! Feckin' soft beginners! In my day you wouldn't have reached the mountains by half 12. You'd still be pedalling from the Yellow House. Think this needs to be reintroduced as a hardening up excerise.....

Well, I was back home around 2pm so it must have finished after 1pm I'd say... You sure you were at the right car park? ;)
Fergal, I think it WAS "that monster drop in GOTD" you're thinking about...

Don't know who was organizing it, but I definately remember Morgan encouraging me at the start... and then naming and shaming me later on the forum :(
