anyone got recommendations on a bike rack? Rear-mount for a hatchback, to take 2 (maybe 3) mountain bikes?

Thule have a good name, just looking on the internet now... seems much easier using a rack than taking the bike apart to put in the back of the car

cheers

of course if anyone has one they no longer need i'd be interested in taking it off your hands

I had a cheap rear one for a few years and it was grand. The only thing is that the car gets a bit scratched.

I still have one that would fit 2 bikes comfortably but I never use it because by the time you get the rack fitted and then the bike strapped to it you've taken twice as long as it would have taken to remove the front wheel and dropped the back seats...

I use the Saris Bones 3 bike rack...I needed to cut off some lugs on it for putting DH bikes on it, otherwise it's ok...it's easily fitted and once tightened up you can cruise along, I've taken 3 big bikes on it and it was fine....sometimes pedals can scratch your boot if you are not careful, which I am not.

That said I am probably going to get a tow-bar and a bar mounted rack as you can't open your boot when these racks are on and I don't have the patience for the 2 minutes it takes to fit the current rack.

if you have a towbar Thule has a great 2-bike job, that folds up tiny, fits in a second and is v. sturdy.
