get yourself a blunt knife, the buttering kind works best, then slide it under the grips and pour some water into the gap between the grip and the handlebar, once the majority of the underside of the grip is wet it should just pop right off.

Pour boiling water over the grip, this softens the rubber nicely. Use a cloth to twist them off. You can use a bit of WD40 under the grip if it helps.
Slide in a drinking straw, then pour water into the straw.
WD40 is hard to get off the grip afterwards - meaning you're running the risk of "throttle grip" syndrome.

all good ideas. the most important thing though is to wear your biking gloves while doing it, you'll end up with blisters on your hands from dragging the damn things off.
The best idea though is to cut them off and buy lock on grips. Problem solved forever!
