View Full Version : Tubeless.......again
I've been to the ghetto and come out bruised and battered...
Had variable success with ghetto tubeless, some tyres/rims work great others not at all. Had particular difficulty with Alex rims/ Nobby Nics..
Now before i take the plunge on those nice fancy Stans ZTR rim's i was just wondering should i give it one last go using a Stans rim strip? Anyone used them on a standard rim with standard tyres? Any better than ghetto?

I used rim strips and nobby nics on a set of DT Swiss rims for a good 6 months with no real problems. Bit of a pain to mount but a high pressure air hose at the garage and no problems at all.

Boom, personally I'd get a tubeless specific tyres before I'd go with new rims..
did you manage to get non tubeless nobby nick's going Ollie?
I'd always awful trouble with standard tyres, running them tubeless.. and I'm amazing..

Enough of this idle banter Graham...when are you making your triumphant return?
We had a great spin in your honour last week.
Come out this evening Gray-dawg, lovely weather, dry trails, having the craic...

to get back on topic...
I have used Stans strip before and it lasted well enough but last time I used a BMX tube cut down the middle, and that seemed to create a better seal against the rim. Might solve your problem.
I did use UST tyres though. High rollers.
