Would this be a good hardtail frame for racing with ?
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=15586
Or any other good advice on what to go for ? I'm planning on buying a whole hardtail or just getting a frame and building from there . Any suggestions ?

think the scott scale 40 is looking very good as an option right now . and its reduced on chain reaction. better react fast :)

ciaran they only have that scott frame in small .. there's no way you could fit that.
You won't go wrong with a scott or a giant XTC though. A good few in the club have XTCs so you should be able to get a go on one easy enough

An 18 inch should fit you fine, depending on the make. If you want, you can have a look at my Rocky for comparison. I might be selling it soon if you can wait.

hmmm, i ride an 18inch XTC but then so does steve i think and he'd be taller than me .. or at least looks it cos he's skinnier than me. The best thing really is to try them out

Jeez Ciaran, did you not know where are now called team MAD Cube?!? Meself and Liam have Cube Reactions which is a class bike and great value. The Acid looks fine, but I guess it’s down to what you plan on doing with it. If it’s for getting seriously into XC racing I'd say to not go with it as after a few months you'll probably start to see the limitations of the components and notice the extra few kgs it carries over some of the other bikes in cubes catalog. But if you're just planning a few XC races and a few handy spins then go for it - like they say on the site "The models in the Comp-series are best suited for sporty hobby riders, who like riding in nature"... whatever that means...

Thanks richie for the info.Don't worry i know that MAD are becoming cube obsessed . I was just wondering about the spec about it thats all. Not enough for what i want though so i think im going to go for the reaction k18 as its lovely spec :) and black will match my mad uniform :)

Hey Ciaran, I'm about the 6 foot/6-1 mark and ride a M (19") XTC. Your welcome to step over it some time. You really would be better off holding out for a bit as opposed to buying that Cube. It will be fairly heavy as hardtails go and would not be too sure how good the Dart fork is. Better off buying something a little better specced as you will not have to spend money upgrading in the future.

the first option or the reaction k18 ? , its completley different spec... the first one was a Cube acid and the second one which i think has good spec is a cube reaction 08 : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=23665

i quite like the reaction k18, but i'm biased towards red bikes!
it's a shame it doesn't have tubeless wheels though

unlike you nigel, i can avoid punctures.....;)Seriously Though I'll probably switch sometime in the future,schalbe tyres have the abilitly to switch to tubeless right ? or at least the rims ...

The K18 is a sweet bike all right - it was the one I had planned on getting initially. Before you stick the order in you should have a go on mine or Liams - both are 18 inch frames. I'd also take up Steve's offer of a spin on the Giant - just to have something to compare against, and try Grahams Canyon while your at it :)
I'm sure you would be able to convert the crossrides that come with it to tubeless fairly easily, but I would not worry about that for now.

Think the Crossrides are UST ready no?

ok...i haven't checked this in a while but i thought -
crossmax = tubeless
crossland/crosstrail = tubeless
crossride = not
ok obviously you can do that tubeless conversion thing, but if it was me I would prefer to have something that is supposed to be tubeless
