All Raceface is brutal I find. Especially their cranksets. I just get angry looking at the one I have on the Reign. Don't get me started on my cracked carbon seat post and trying to change the angle of the saddle.......

I felt the need to update this...
Deadliest
Tubeless - fitted a ghetto kit on Friday night and gave it a run today at the K-Cap - awesome!
Crappiest
Feedback Sports work stand - poor balance of the thing when you clamp the bike by the seatpost means that you can't take the back wheel out first.
But I forgot this when I fitted the tubeless kit on Friday night. I did the work in the sunroom (can only get away with this when my wife's not home), took the back wheel out, turned around to put the wheel down and the bike and stand toppled over - into the TV!
I thought I'd been lucky not to break it - there wasn't a mark on it, but found out I'd fecked the thing when it was switched on on Saturday morning.
The telly is well and truly fecked, but jeez I'm stoked with the tubeless!!

quality steve .. what excuse did you use? Playing tennis on the Wii?
I spend about 400 hours racing and riding off-road each year and get around 2-3 punctures* per year. Those are mostly horribly sliced sideways. Amazing... (I also use very light tires, so if I use the normal heavy UST ones, I would probably cut the 2-3 down even more...)
* I may get more, but I never know about them :)
Almost forgot...

Crappiest Product: Fibrax brake pads. Brutal, fiddly, crappy life span, are they made of cheese or something???? The only good thing is the come with a disc cleaning wipe. My advice, buy genuine!!!

I have fibrax pads and still have loads of life left. I put them in the day of the race in Kerry.

Camalbaks, that the lidl imitation model :D
As much as I dislike them, the reign has no bottle holders so I use one then..
when it comes to cleaning and drying, here's two options
for drying, get a wire coat hanger, bend it in a shape that fits in the bag and keeps it open to dry it, and then hang it up
Or, instead of cleaning everytime, assuming you just use water in it, after use, empty it and put it in the freezer, nothing will grow on it then..
Thats very clever about the freezer option! Never thought of that.
I use the coat hangar and let it dry out naturally, but I'll try the freezer option after the next spin.

let us know how you get on
never actually tried it myself :)
Thanks for clarifying that :) So, i'll be the guinea pig....
diamondG
16-10-2009, 01:18 PM
actually, maybe its not a good idea
I see now they warn against it
Can I put my CamelBak® reservoir in the freezer?
No. The freezing process makes the plastic brittle. Also, when water freezes it expands leading to the possibility of rupturing the reservoir
http://www.pixelectomy.com/Camelbak/faq2.html
I had heard of people doin it, but I guess they all have brittle camelbaks now..
the new plan is, find someone that does it, and lets see if and a pat on the back during a spin will see 2L of water running down their gear
worth a shot
Give me a loan of your camelback and I'll try it out for you....
Once every few months fire shot of milton baby juice into it and you'll be grand...
DaveS

I was originally talking about cleaning the real CamalBaks. But now that you've but it in my head I'll have to do back and edit the Crappiest to add in rip-off bladders (I think it was originally a Platypus bladder I had and the taste of any drink was like rubber).
Tried the 1/3rd filling and freezing think and doesn't work too well because its impossible to keep it away from the screw-off top and at the tube end at the same time (this is done because a giant ice-cube will melt slower that loads of small ones, for long rides n stuff)...
I've also did it a few times with the bladder nearly dry but at that stage you've done most of the work anyhoo. Either way I've had no leaks or anything.
Finally it's not just water I have in it.
AussieSteve
16-10-2009, 05:11 PM
When my Camelbak bladder isn't in use or soaking/drying, it's permanently in the freezer (empty). It's a genuine one, and no joke, it would have to be ten year's old!
As Tom suggests, it gets a Milton bath every few months. I've never had any mould or any strange tastes. And it's definately not gone brittle.
IMO sometimes there is a reason why the known brands cost more!
Bottles lads, bottles....
