Any recommendations for a new set of biking shoes? Want something for racing and the trans wales so needs to be good for 6-8 hours a day riding that will not fall apart in the process.
Looking at maybe these:-
Diadora Ergo Carbon

Shimano M225E SPD

Cannondale XCE3100 Elite Racer

Any other suggestions?

I have the Shimanos above and couldn't fault them.
Bear in mind the fit will be quote different between them all. Shimanos can be a bit narrow, Diadora and Cannondale (which are made by Diadora) are pretty wide.
I have a pair of Shimano road shoes which I love and a pair of the next level down ones in the MTB variety that you mention. They fell apart with a light enough winters of training in them (I have multiple shoes so I don't use the same ones all the time).
Personally I would (and do) go for Sidi Bullet IIs or one of the high end Specialized shoes.

I have the Shimanos as well and I've had no problems. Only thing is they are difficult to walk in, especially slippy on tarmac/stone, but that's true for all racing oriented shoes I suppose.

I have the SIDI Bullet II's. Would advide to stear clear. They only have the velcrow straps which can be too long when fully tightened and mine are falling apart after only a year or so.

specialized BG comp's, I got 'em in the cycleinn and they're super comfortable, they come with studs in case you use them.
and most importantly, damn sexy
I think they worked out about €120

I've got the Shimano 225's, have been using them for almost 2 years now without problem. The only fault I can find is that they're a tad heavy.
Worth every penny. I even like them so much, I bought a second pair on sale just to have for when these (eventually) wear out.
Having said that, I wouldn't mind trying a pair of the custom thermo footbed ones, but they're €€€.
Just note that the pair you linked to are the special WIDE version for people with flipper feet.
A lot of the pictures of the PROs on the World Cup scene (MTB and CX) show them with the 225s, surely they all can't be wrong?
