Just managed to shear the bolt on the star nut in my head set so ordered:-

I can drill the current one out but I need the star nut installation tool to get the new one in. Does any one happen to have one I can borrow?

€7.60 for one little screw! Is there none cheaper?

€7.60 for a bolt, top cap and star nut.

You're missing the point. It's carbon!

Ollie must have a huge carbon foot print at this stage ;)

Exactly there were a few the same price but this one had a shiny carbon cap instead of black metal one.

Ah Ollie, go easy with the wrenching - you don't know your own strength.

Any chance of just unscrewing the old bolt out of the existing star nut?

notice the actual description of what ollie just bought

"star nut with carbon fibre effect top cap"

carbon fibre effect eh? Would you like a fake fur coat to go with that?

;-)

Not that I could see when I was looking at it. Seems like the star nut had rusted the base of the bolt in so when I came to undo it the bolt sheared about 5mm into the thread for the nut. Think I might need to buy my self a mini torque wrench...

yeah paddy i saw that it said "carbon effect"

but i didn't want to say anything to rain on his carbon parade!

Never used the top cap as it was the wrong size so no carbon effect for me... Carbon is so last year any way...

Why stop at the top cap, when you can go the whole hog (http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=tech/2008/reviews/april1_carbon_wrapit08)!
