Oakey dokey, club membership is open for 2010. Hurray

The extremely easy path to joining MAD, Irelands Premier Mountainbiking Club is thus:
1) Fill in the application form and email it to membership@madmtb.com
2) Pay the membership fee of €25, bargain, either through paypal by clicking the Pay Now link on the How to Join page, by bank transfer (PM for details), by cheque made out to Mountainbiking Association of Dublin or by cash to a committee member at a spin
3) Simples
If you are under 16yrs old, you will need a parent or guardian to fill out the consent form and return it signed to a committee member before a spin.
Once we have all your details and cold hard cash, Shane will give you the highly coveted MAD membership privileges.
Existing members also need to complete and return the application forms as Shane is keeping a record of everyone.
Closing date for membership applications is February 14th 2010.(no longer applies)
Shane is our membership secretary and he will be dealing with all membership queries. You can get him at the above email address or drop him a PM through the forum.
We do have a requirement that all members MUST join Cycling Ireland and this should have been done before joining MAD, but due to slight delay with the Cycling Ireland website at the minute this wasn’t possible and we’re not totally sure when it will be fixed. Once this is sorted all signed up members will have to join Cycling Ireland at some level or MAD membership privileges will be revoked.
Another requirement of the club is trailbuilding, presently there are a few hardy souls, well mostly Fergal really, that does the majority of the work. The man isn't gettin any younger and needs some help, so at least a couple of times a year there will be organised MAD trailbuilding days and all club members should try to attend. There won’t be any Club spins on these days and anyone found out on a bike will be shown the Fergal Kilkenny gunshow, it ain’t pretty. If you can’t make it on the organised days there will be other chances to get up to your armpits in muck, when people are heading out to do a bit of digging and these will be posted on the forum. Keep an eye out for them, try to get along and get your hands dirty. If it is noticed by the committee that there are members out on their bikes regularly week in week out but never appear to make trailbuilding days through the year, the committee will reserve the right to kick em out, you have been warned! MAD, through Fergal, has done a staggering amount of work on 3 Rock that other clubs have taken note of and fully appreciate and we need to build on this excellent base and also maintain the trails that we currently have.
There are a number of events that MAD will be running this year and we rely on the Club members for support. We had a very successful year with MAD XC and the NPS races held in 3 Rock and hope to continue with this through 2010. All members will be expected to help out in some way no matter how small, so when we finalise dates for these events, mark them in the diary and get out to support the club.
The club will have regular spins, once the snow and ice buggers off and members should try to come along and get to know the other souls in the club. All details will be posted on the Members Forum regarding location, leaving time, spin length, type of spin and fitness level required. Unsure if you are suitable? Just ask the question, I’m sure someone will berate you enough till you have to come along and prove them wrong. Stick a reply to the thread to let people know if you’re coming along or can’t make it, ESP doesn’t work for a lot of people.
