No I still haven't joined. Or organised a trip to the alps. Or gone on a club spin.

I do however have a big bouncy bike that I know nothing about. It has one of those maxle things on the front wheel and the whole thing is rocking around a bit like the bearings are shot. There's a tube inside the hub of the wheel that's definitely loose - I can stick my finger into the hub (when it's off the bike obivously) and move it around. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it? Are the bearings inside the hub? All very confusing.

Mite see some of you up three rock tonight - if you see an escaped front wheel on the boneshaker, please try and find me nearby and call an ambulance....I should never have bought a second hand bike:(

I have the exact same problems on my bearings of my bottom bracket i suggest you get it serviced and stop riding it until you do , as the bearing gets looser until bang... and the bearing is gone [ not one barry scott quote in there at all ]

Bugger...

Thanks though, exploding bearings doesn't sound good.

Do you know the brand/model of the hub?

This is it:

The whole thing looks very impressive but the front wheel still rocks about a little.

Here's a schematic of the hub:

Looks pretty simple. I'd say either the bearing are worn out or for some reason the bearings and spacers aren't pressed firmly into the hub shell.

Hmmm looks complicated to me! Or cryptic anyway...I'll have a look tonight, it's the bearing spacer that's noticeably loose, I suspect I might be missing an O-ring, something I never thought I'd admit to online...thanks again...
