Phil
27-05-2008, 02:15 PM
Thats loser talk!

If anybody is thinking of going this evening check with me (0872156265) before heading up. If it is still raining I might knock it on the head and wait for the Thursday spin on 3 rock.

Hopefully the MET's prediction for the Saturday spin is not accurate...

"Indications suggest cloudier conditions for Saturday with showery rain in places mainly eastern areas but it will be warm and humid."

Martin
27-05-2008, 02:23 PM
phil rain makes mtb more fun! take it as part of the sport ;-)

Ron
27-05-2008, 02:58 PM
Thats the last of the rain gone anyway, its drying up already! I'm definetely guna be there, rain or shine.

Barrydanzig
27-05-2008, 03:02 PM
hmm have you looked out your window in the last few minutes? i'm relatively close to taylors threerock and its raining sideways...it may clear up closer to the spin time but i wouldn't hold my breath.

ollietrex
27-05-2008, 03:09 PM
I will be up there for 7:15 as I want to ride some of the new stuff that has been worked on.

ollietrex
27-05-2008, 03:11 PM
Oh and Barry harden up and come for a spin as I want my water bottle back...

Barrydanzig
27-05-2008, 03:19 PM
its funny i was gonna tell everyone else to harden the fcuk up but its pretty disgusting out there...maybe closer to the time i'll make a more informed decision.

i'm sorry ollie but that bottle is being tested to try and find out what performance enhancing drugs have been used during your race season!

Ron
27-05-2008, 03:48 PM

Phil
27-05-2008, 03:48 PM

ollietrex
27-05-2008, 08:35 PM
Well it did not rain for the whole time I was up there biking, nice to ride the new trails (good work fergal and co) and hats of to the new lads your gonna make some good competition for the club races when they start...

Phil
28-05-2008, 06:29 AM
Yep, a very nice spin to be sure, i thought it was going to be pure misery but turned out to be good craic.. fairplay Ollie for having the patience to show us around the club trails!

Think there is a good bit for work to be done before any races though..

Fergal
28-05-2008, 08:23 AM
yeah, rode one of the new sections on Monday (Zippy) and it wasn't right at all - the exit needs to be straight-out, at the moment it's a real awkward turn right - a fair bit of digging needed to get thru the bank to lead to the next section.

Rock n roll addition I think works well - it loops around on itself but you can see riders at the x-over point before the rock drop so no real issue - could do with being taped-out until the trail beds-in and people can see where they are going.

Some fecker keeps putting the bridge back in place at the exit of rock n roll - if I catch whoever it is they'll know all about it...the exit is now just down to the right before where the bridge was

The re-route to the old MAD CC I'm not too sure about - think Cormac liked it - dunno, I'll give it a while to see what people think

Ideally sometime this weekend, I'd like to get rock n roll taped, and the exit made from Zippy to join the next bit

ollietrex

I prefer the old park of the club course to the new part, but then it might just take a little while for it to grow on me. The new loop is good on rock n roll...

Fergal
28-05-2008, 08:40 AM
yeah, I think I do too.....I might re-open it and just leave the new one as an option ....

NigelS
28-05-2008, 04:28 PM
obviously I haven't tried the addition to the MAD CC, but i remember not initially liking the result our trailbuilding efforts of 2.5 years ago. Fortunately, over time it has become such a great little trail; it just needed some time to bed in. Hopefully your new addition will be similar :)

Fergal
29-05-2008, 10:54 AM
we'll see how it goes - if we don't like it we can easily change it back, or make a new variation....

Hey Nige - when are you back home again?

NigelS
29-05-2008, 11:26 AM
herro.

well, funnily enough i'm coming back for 3 days this Tuesday morning with my bike as i have too much luggage to take home at the end of June, and i have a birthday to attend. Then i'm back in the belge until around the 27th of June :)

then the comeback begins. muhuhahahahha

Yay Nigel returns !!!!!!!!!!! Bring us waffles ;)I swear belgian waffles are to die for when their covered in chocolate and sugar

NigelS
29-05-2008, 11:35 AM
ah Ciaran, one must have strong willpower to be able to say NO to waffles. There'll be no 6-pack if we eat them!

but my god...they're so tasty

no...i'm going to stay strong. I haven't had junk food in 3 weeks. it's KILLING me! I mean, being in the LAND OF CHOCOLATE and not being able to eat it.

/rant

i need a waffle :(

ciaranc
29-05-2008, 11:38 AM
Hmm belgium for me @ Xmas . best time ever . I havnt been in the land of chocolate in ages

Phil
29-05-2008, 11:46 AM
Belgium is really the land of crazy beer.. equally bad for your 6 pack.

A pub crawl of Brugges is highly recommended.

NigelS
29-05-2008, 11:47 AM
I presume you've heard about the magical cans of Belgian 'beer' known to us mere mortals as 'CaraPils'. That's right....€5 for a crate of 330ml beers. ~25cent /can

Think Dutch Gold

Think a quarter of the price

Think piss in a can

Don't chug more than 3 of them - i can confirm that you will vomit.

oh....but there are cheaper offerings! Kaiser beer is 25cent for a 500ml can. if you can chug this stuff then I'll eat a waffle :)

paddyobrien
29-05-2008, 12:09 PM
sounds like a challenge to me ...

;-)

Thank god i was earning when i lived in brussels .. i could afford the expensive beer .. about 1 euro a can! :-)

NigelS
29-05-2008, 12:26 PM
here in Namur, we don't associate with you snobby type! ;-)

1 euro a can?!!? I can eat dinner for 1 euro :P

Phil
29-05-2008, 12:29 PM
If I could get the devils piss in a can for €1 in this country id drink it...

ollietrex
29-05-2008, 12:31 PM
Ah dutch gold is not so bad in this country at 6 cans for €7 thats pretty cheap...

paddyobrien
29-05-2008, 12:47 PM
dinner for 1 euro?? Thank feck i'm not a student anymore!

Phil
29-05-2008, 12:58 PM
All this talk of beer is making me very thirsty, we need some beer based spin or general beer based affair.

NigelS
29-05-2008, 01:02 PM
that would actually be pretty cool... stop at the top of RideRock on a roasting day and drink a nice warm beer :P

Phil
29-05-2008, 01:04 PM
A camelbak full of buckfast.. .surely that counts as an energy drink.

NigelS
29-05-2008, 01:28 PM
you're going to do very well in this club Phil :)
