what categories are you all racing in?
I missed Kilrudery last year, what was the course like,
how does it rate on the savagometer?
I'd like to train for masters, but I'm not sure its going to happen..
I like the sound of the tips going around for training, and I'm going of doing laps of suitable circuits, pushing myself at race speed. Trying differnet circuits each week.
djouce woods, 3 rock, leadmines, kindlestown
This weekend I'm going to do the EPIC nps course in Djouce woods, its good because its a long enough lap. And it rated pretty high on my savagometer.
Anyone remember how many laps masters/experts was last year for this one?
Also, let us know if you're interested in doing laps, I'm thinking Saturday morning.
If there were numbers out we could start people with different handicaps depending on what categories they were racing.

I think it was only three laps for Masters in that race - mainly due to the mud. Would have been four otherwise.
Sounds good, if I have my bike back count me in,..we'll see if you really are a a rare gem or just a fake...
Sounds good Graham, I'll try to make it for Saturday too

That sounds cool Graham. Kilruddery is a pretty tough course. It is pretty much all singletrack which is cool. Then you climb up to the peek where they have a Cathy Galagher (Leadmines) type descent. Really one to sort the men from the boys. There's a chicken run, a direct line and Robin's line down this. Robin's line is suicide but the direct is as managable as Cathy Galaghers.
Was it that muddy last year Morgan? I remember that race being fairly long distance wise...
The Djouce race last year was a real mud fest... The only time last year I had issues changing gears in a race. Elite was 4 laps as far as I remember (it was 5 but the conditions meant they shortened it). I remember doing a lap on the Saturday at about 85% and being 4-5 minutes faster then my laps during the race. Damned sports race cutting up the tracks ;)
That's a great loop to be doing - also good as K-Cap 3 will be in that area.

that's true Ryan, I'd forgotten that K-Cap 3 was in Djouce woods!!
I'm looking forward to this alright!
Its a good oportunity to see what you're like doing laps of a circuit, pacing yourself to finish whatever number laps in your category. So even if you're only thinking of racing, try it, and its a great set of trails!
Everybody is welcome!
We can do a practice lap as a reminder of where exactly the course runs, then the fun begins!
So last year, with the bad conditons it was:
2 laps: sports
3 laps: experts/masters
4 laps: elites
There will be no one doing times, so bring a stopwatch if you can, its always interesting to know your lap times, and how they compare.
I'm thinking Saturday at 10am at the Djouce lower car park.
ps: Sorry about cutting up the trails in the sports race Ryan, we were determined to slow you all down, I saw one guy towing a plough down benchcut. A bit extreme, but it worked :)

Its pretty much grand but I rode the beauty that is bench cut last week and it is starting to suffer again from being ridden in the wet. Still ride able but not as good as it was at the start of the summer.
Will try and make it out as I fancy doing a few laps of Djouce.

yeah, we don't want to make bench cut worse, we can have a look for an alternative decent, maybe incorporate the new trails, Gran Canaria and the other into the circuit.

I think it's [almost] underage drinking that makes your head sore Steve. Set your alarm.

Think its time to get rid of this forum :P
I think I'll be out in Djouce for a few fast laps tomorrow morning... I'm going via the WW so I might be a little late depending on how early I feel like getting up. Don't wait for me - I'll see yas on the trails...

what is the savageness on the old madometer of the spin tomorrow ?
are we meeting at 10 or 10.30 then Graham ??
Oh, could someone take an extra bottle (or two) of water for me? Graham? - just so that I can fill up at Djouce :)
As far as savageness - if we are racing - as fast as you want to make it :)

i guess its 10 then ??

sure Ryan, I'll bring some extra water.
In relation to the time, I'll be there by 10, but by the time we're setup and ready for a practice/warmup lap it'll be 10:30 realistically, so don't worry if you're running late, at worst you'll miss the warm up lap. Just join in when you're there.
Although I'm parking in the lower car park, and meeting there at 10ish, the race started at the upper car park, so when its lap time, I'll start from there, its at the top of ecstacy.
Ciaran, as Ryan says we'll be doing the circuit, and race training, so the savageness is up to yourself, it means we probably won't be riding as a group, unless you're going at the same pace as someone else.
So be warned, its not like a normal spin, in the sense that people won't be hangin around or waiting for the rest of the group, it'll be head down gruntin and droolin all the way (speaking from my own point of view, maybe your all more dignified :)
10:30 on the move... Yeah :) only have to leave my place at 8:30 then...
