Number Plates for Cyclist

As the FF Gov rummages around to find ways to tax us we, I think this is being introduced under the radar, and could lead to road/off road tax for bikes in the future.... the same was introduced in Belgium and now Belgian cyclist have to pay a bike tax, what say you all?

It's a novelty item for kids. I've never heard of a Belgian bicycle tax - convince me.

"The purpose of the number plates is to raise awareness of cycle safety and encourage more people to take the two-wheel mode of transport, rather than four wheels," ....BS! Its a way to control people and how they get around. Also for taxes and tolls. What next... you need to pin a numberplate to your forehead when you walk on footpaths? Cycling is getting very popular now for all the obvious reasons but the first thing a lot of people in government seem to think now is how can we regulate and control it, and make money off it. I've always liked the counter culture associated with cycling - from the reclaim the streets and critical mass events to the courier/messenger subcultures. Cycling is a symbol of freedom of movement which really doesn't fit in with licence plates!

They can be customised or personalised to show the name of the cyclist, making them a great novelty gift for every child
