Ok so here is a plan that I can book if we have intrest.
I wanna go do that race in wales so if we could get a few people I can fit about 8-10 bikes + one other person in the van so we take another two cars with four people and there gear in and split the ferries between people which makes it a lot cheaper. Go over friday and maybe do a small ride... Do the races for the laugh on sat and sun or we can sort out people taking a car and the van while a couple of people do the race and then spend a couple more days doing the trails.
Being selfish this suits me as I get to race and its after the trans wales... For every one else you have the blue van to carry all the kit and bikes for the couple of days we are over so it saves a bit of money if you are a cheap arse like me.
I have a bit of holiday left so thinking probably going from early friday to wednesday night. The pace of the week will fun with lots of curry, pasta and drinking as I love to cook and drink red wine.
So what do you reckon?

So the van comes to: 519
So each car is: 391
So total of two cars and a van is: 1301 / 10 = 130.1
So add in accomadation and food if we cook for our selves I reckon will be about 250-300.
As a note I have no problems of any one under 18 coming but they need to find some one to agree to look after them.
I need to check the work calendar on this one..have a sneaking suspicion I have to go to Denmark around that time...

what we'd need to do is to get acquainted somehow with the local XC scene in Wales to be shown round their equivalents of Djouce, 3rock, Leadmines etc...
Perhaps via a Welsh MTB/Club forum....?
I don't mind a day or two on the Welsh equivalent of B'stoe, but the roots, rocks, soil and singletracked-forests are where the real action is at....talking of which:
I was just up in Djouce tonight and it's freakin' deadly, the line options on that course are gonna be pretty important, well worth stopping and taking a good long stare at a section and seeing what works best, I took the main line down XTC and got the choppers shaken out of my head, the 2nd and 3rd time down were a much different story,
the wise words of Sensei Seymour reverberating through the treees....ooooohhh spoooookkkyyyyy....
I won't be able to sleep until the spin buzzzz wears down, my new brake levers are so cool - I am at one with my machine.....
I leave a car at Birmingham airport to get me around while I'm in England. The car is big enough to fit myself and 4 passengers comfortably. An option could therefore be for 5 of us to fly to Birmingham and take 1 less car assuming the bikes are taken care of (thks Ollie) and for anyone that may have a phobia of the sea crossing... Gogs?
Although its a longer drive at 2hr45min for the 125 mile drive from Birmingham Airport to Penmachno rather than the 1hr20min 50 miles from Holyhead, there is maybe more flexibility with travel times and of course the crossing is a bit quicker!
It may help more so if numbers don't come to exactly 4 in a car as the cheapest airfare at the moment is around 25 euro including taxes for the return fare assuming online checkin and hand baggage only. Then share out the savings made.
May be a idea if there are any takers?
These dates are good for me..
Had a quick look at Ryanair, you can fly to Birmingham for next to nothing on those dates, it would not be a bad idea to make a move on this soon to take advantage of such cheap flights.

I have to agree with Martin in a way that it is a bit colder, me and Ash went to Scotland the time sort of time last year. We had nice weather during the days but it was just a bit colder in the evenings.
The joys of democracy!
Lets have a popular vote on this...the choices are 1st weekend in Aug, 2nd weekend in Aug or cold and miserable sept.
You forgot another option...
Both. Start of August AND middle of September :)

I'd like to head over and give the UK nps round 5 in September a shot. Its in north Wales close to Hollyhead. See what XC racing in the UK is like.
As I said earlier, Mel and I will be heading to it but we will probably be doing our own thing as far as travel etc... is concerned. You don't want to see us when we have our 'eye of the tiger' heads on :P

I bet you've been saving that one for ages.....
I would definitely be interested in going to the UK NPS 5 weekend in PenMachno. Not sure if I could make Fri-Wed though; Fri-Mon more likely workwise. Have car will travel!
