Last year was the beginning and the weather robbed us of a great start, this year will be better. Both courses will have road, fire road, hike a bike bits, bog, super mountain free for all single track, rocks, etc, in short variety.
I think it will be a grand day out for anyone who makes the effort and an escape from the endless mini loops of XC racing and riding that a lot of us are consumed by. This race marks the start of the 'Marathon season' with the Cooley Thriller and the marathon champs just far enough away to make the Sheeps Head raid the perfect start to the long end of the season. Throw in a few pints and a bit o ceol and a wild sportive the following day and i think you have a fine weekend.
Short course 30+km, long course 60+km
I am taking 2 days to mark the course this year instead of one 15 hour day last year, and i will endeavour to ensure everyone who makes the effort to drive down and pay good money to ride will not be disappointed. I will have more marshalls this year and will personally be driving, running and biking around the course to coordinate. its one big loop and all i can say is I will try my best.
I am looking forward to seeing yee all there and praying for some reasonable weather, any questions or queries at all just ring me on 087-9861202 or Matt 087-7990607
