No sooner than the dust has settled after round 4 of the NPS, MAD will be back in Djouce wood this Saturday for what will be the most exciting, fun filled fun spin to date (I really hope I'm not underselling this).

The plan will be to try out some or all of the trails used in round 4, the old favourites like ACK and GC, the more leisurely Earls Drive, and who knows, maybe even Ride rock. Might also drop down to the shop for a sambo and a cup of cha before we finish off. There will be something for everyone on the day.

This is a fun spin, so the emphasis is on using the skills you've been learning over the past month or so and just getting out and giving it a lash. There will be plenty of the more experienced folks on hand to give tips and advice on anything mtb, so don't be afraid to give them a dig and ask a question :). And we'll be going at an easy pace.

The plan will be to meet at the slightly later time of 11am at the lower car park in Djouce (map here) (http://www.madmtb.com/maps/map_djouce_ballinastoe_carpark.htm). This is to facilitate a few of the more energetic club members tootling their way over from Taylors.

If you need of a lift, stick a post up here - I should have space for 2 bikes.

The usual rules apply for the spin - helmet, spares, money etc.

If you wish to join the club, please bring along your application form and the sub too.

See ya on Sat.

Crumlin is only round the corner from me. Just let me know where to pick you up.

Just to let you know though, there is a small chance I could be working Sat but I'm 95% sure I'm not.

Phil

Liam just make sure you don't stop too long in Crumlin...the natives are very fond of pipe bombs..

Gogs

Shut up Phil! The locals are great...those pipe bombs were only a laugh...they weren't even real explosives!

Phil

Oli, at what time will you be leaving Taylors at tomorrow morning?

ollietrex
20-06-2008, 08:56 AM
I reckon an 8:15 - 8:30 start at Taylors is a plan. I am not planning on pushing it on the way over, just a sustained cycle without stopping to get some good miles in the legs. Phil was talking about coming so that's 3 of us, any other takers?

Cormac
20-06-2008, 09:01 AM
I am not certain, need to check forcast. Will confirm tomorrow by text.

Martin

Sean

Well I'm going back to bed - I've been soaked too many times already this week!

6 hours out in that doesn't really whet my appetite..

Ron
21-06-2008, 08:46 AM
Its forcast to let up around 2pm ish this afternoon and no more rain forcast after that with possible blue skies this evening. Is anyone up for Djouce this afternoon instead?

Phil
21-06-2008, 08:52 AM
I'm up for heading out for a sneaky spin with Ron when the weather clears a bit.

Jackie, I would keen for a longish spin tomorrow, myself and Ollie had planned to head from Taylors to Djouce this morn but cancelled due to the weather, wouldnt mind rescheduling for tomorrow if there are volunteers.

Ron
21-06-2008, 08:59 AM
There is a club spin organised by Shane tomorrow at Djouce, moderate pace 8:30am-12:30

jackieo
21-06-2008, 09:04 AM
Phil sounds good. Let me know what time you're leaving Taylors. If not up for that will definitely meet you at Djouce.

Phil
21-06-2008, 09:11 AM
I believe the 8.30 Djouce spin has been moved to a 10 B'stoe spin..

Ron
21-06-2008, 09:15 AM
Just read the post from Shane, he's going the Ballinastoe on Sunday instead.

Djouce is ok for anytime this afternoon...once the downpour is over that is. I've only been round the Djouce course the once, does anyone have a better idea of the route?

Ron
21-06-2008, 09:32 AM

THE 8.30 AM SPIN IN DJOUCE IS STILL 8.30 AM IN DJOUCE,

IT IS NOT 10 IN B'STOE, THAT'S SHANE GEOGHAN'S SPIN

We got 6 hardy souls out braving the weather today. Barry, Liam, Ollie, Ash and (new) Paddy. Funny, you can only get so wet - after that you're grand! Did the NPS course. Its holding up well (if you don't mind the small lakes on xtc). The drops however are well dodge. The entrance to the mini DH section has a small river running through it and if the rain keeps coming it'll just end up being an unridable gulley. Apart from that it was all good fun. And a plus of going for a spin in the rain is there's very little cleaning on of the bike!

ollietrex
21-06-2008, 01:32 PM
Yep, Was a great crack, sorry for not getting back to Oisin this morning as my phone was on the blinker and could not get in touch with you.

The NPS course looked pretty cool from last weekend, some intresting bits thats for sure, in the wet everything just becomes that more technical... Just hope the weather holds off tonight and it should be a bit nicer tomorrow.

Liam
21-06-2008, 03:15 PM
It was wet allright, very wet, but good christening for the new bike.

Can't wait to try that course in the dry though, should be great fun if its not all washed away, the water was exposing some nasty roots on some decents.

Anyway, might go b/stoe tomorrow.

I braved the road bike today - enjoyed a good 4.5 hours of rain, rain and more rain!

Don't you just love the Irish summer.

I'll be at the 10am spin in Ballinstoe in the morning- although would like to try some of the Djouce NPS course (not the hard 'well dodge', 'interesting' drops thank you very much!) if any one is on for a combination of both. Otherwise will have to settle for 2 laps of Bstoe. Although given the weather (and forecasted wind!) it might be the better option.

Ciaran, can give you a lift if you need one. Will text you.

is anyone leaving from Taylors tomorrow? Will probably head off about 9, weather permitting
