IMPORTANT:

All MAD members need to affiliate themselves with Cycling Ireland - this is a mandatory requirement.

You MUST have a Cycling Ireland licence in order to be a member of MAD.

The cut-off dates by which you need to have applied for your licence are as follows:

People intend to race this year/who need a race licence:

You ideally should have applied already for your licence,

if not, please apply by the end of this week (22 Feb 2008).

IMPORTANT NOTE:

You may not have your actual licence in time for the first K-Cap race - in this case - ensure to bring along the email receipt you will get from CI when you pay for your licence.

People who just want Cycling Ireland membership (non-racers):

You need to apply for your licence by 29 Feb 2008

Ensure to send myself or Morgan an email when you have applied for your licence so we can approve it.

Thanks to those who already have got themselves a licence, but there still a good few members who still have not purchased their licences.

You can find all the info you need (kindly put together by Morgan) here:

http://www.madmtb.com/club-rides/racing-guide/race-licence-information

Any questions please drop me a mail

Thanks

good question - there's a backlog at CI at present - big surprise, so for people who have already applied, I'm expecting licences to arrive this week - will advise when they do

One more thing:

Can anyone who has applied for a licence but has not yet paid please do so ASAP - by booking a licence and not paying for it you are creating a delay for the admin team in Cycling Ireland.

If you have any difficlties with the online payment just send a cheque for the fee into the CI address or call them with your credit card details

thanks

I have applied and paid for standard licence but was charged €83, I thought standard licence was around €30, did I do something wrong maybe?

good man liam .. you'd better get training for the races so as it appears you have bought a race licence!

joking aside .. if you're not going to be racing we should be able to sort it out for you .. i think .. fergal should know more about this

Hi Liam, you applied for a Restricted (MTB) licence - not a "standard licence". That's €80 for the licence and a €3 "administration fee".

Liam you should be getting a race license and doing some of the races if you don't pay for a race license each separate event will end up costing you an extra €15.

Ooops. Well not sure yet if I'm fit enough for races, maybe I'll get there by the end of the summer, how would I sort that?

Liam

you big eejit Liam, you must have money to burn, give us a lend of a tenner,

I called them and left a message as they're not answering due to being up the walls sending the licences out, you may or may not get a refund, if I were you, I'd take this as a sign from The Almighty (that's Morgan) to get some training in and enjoy an excellent race season.

Did I hear that Cycling Ireland licences for students were to be at a reduced rate this year? I don't see any mention of it on the website, maybe it was entry fees to the races?...

TomH

Not that I begrudge joining it, I'm sure it's all spent well but does anyone know where do the fees get spent?..Were they involved in developing Ballinastoe, if so hat's off to them.

"Full-time students in third-level education are eligible for a refund of 50% of the membership fee paid. A student applying for this refund must submit a letter from the Registrar of their college stating that they are full time students in a recognised third level course"

What exactly does membership to Cycling Ireland do for you?

Does it insure you for injury or is it only for if you wipe out a walker?

Its not really clear on their website.

Hi Michael, you should find all the information you need here:

http://www.madmtb.com/club-rides/racing-guide/race-licence-information/

Even if you don't receive your licence in time for the K-Capitals you can print out a copy of it from the CI site and that will be sufficient for entry.
