Since I seem to have paid for the licence, I was wondering if there are races this year suitable for my level? Only been proper biking since beginner MAD cycles last summer but I have come along well enough.

Is there a list of races somewhere or is there not that many?

you'll be grand doing any race in sports, last year there were at least two of us who raced the k capital having been mtbing for less than yourself. Sports isn't a category for vicious savages, anyone can manage it and you'll surprise yourself. That said racing on bikes will case pain and suffering, but that's all part of the fun ;)

As for a list the one on this website/irishxcmtb.com are the what you'll need

Race Sports in a couple of the K Caps, and the NPS starts in april. Nerves alone will get you around the first couple of races! By the way, I was only biking 4 months before my first race, finished 16th of 30ish....I think.

The sports race is usually about 16KM of track far less technical to what you are used to. You'll handle is easily.
