Hi All,

I am a Dublin based professional photographer looking for volunteers who would like to have their picture taken (in Dublin, Dublin Mountains). I am looking for 'action' shots which I would guess would include jumps etc and anything else you guys can give me. I would be led by you guys on the day, if I'm honest, I know how to take pictures but you guys know how to and where to ride best.

I am looking to shoot on location probably in the hills/mountains around Dublin. I know the club meets at the Yellow House in Rathfarnham most Sunday mornings (I think!). I need probably three to four people max and I would be looking to get quirky angles of action bikers, to attach a camera to a bike for remote firing and stuff like that etc.

The shots would be used for 'stock' and portfolio purposes, so all concerned in the shoot must be willing to sign a model release and be prepared to possibly see themselves in print or media at some point.

The bad news is that no money will change hands. I just want to capture you guys doing what you do and the best I can offer would be a prints or possibly images for this website.

Lastly, I think those who volunteer would need to be reasonably competent on their bikes so no beginners. Hardened bikers with patience needed. Patience, as some of the shot set ups take time!

Hopefully some of you might be interested and as I say I have no problem getting you some prints of the images for those involved.

I think I have covered everything but if you have any questions just post back.

I look forward to some responses and thanks for looking in on this post.

Regards

hi Cormac

This sounds like something we would like to help with, though we are primarily an XC club (non-jumpers), a few of us have done a bit of DH (downhill) before, most of the decent DH riders would probably be in EPIC MTB club: http://www.epicmtb.com/smf

There are some locations up 3Rock where if you got a decent angle, would make XC riding look fairly exciting.

Personally I'm interested because I'm looking to put a short promo video together for my website:

http://www.irishxcmtb.com/

(to include photos also) which will promote XC racing in Ireland, and I could use some tips / advice from you.

3rock (not far from Rathfarnham) would probably provide a reasonably good location for what you want, there are both open/exposed (good light) and forested (lower light) sections where we ride.

For your info, there is a downhill race on up in Moneyscalp this weekend, which could provide some decent 'action' shots - ie; jumps etc.. those kids are totally fearless - here's a link to some snaps from the race 2 weeks ago:

From an XC perspective, the first round of racing is on in Kilruddery (near Bray Wicklow) on 9th March, this is a fairly scenic location thus could provide you some decent shots.

Hopefully that helps!

Hi Fergal,

Thanks for the quick reply. I won't get to Moneyscalp this weekend but would be very keen in getting some pictures in 3rock.

As mentioned previously, if possible I would want a 'private' outing for the photos as opposed to a club outing with me covering it as a bystander, would that be possible? And to really chance my arm, in the evening when there is better light or first thing in the morning would be ideal.

Just noticed your mobile number on the mail (Duh!) so I'll give you a bell next week and we might have a chat about it all.

Thanks again, Fergal.

sure thing, we've a poser or two in the club so it shouldn't be a prob getting us out for a specific photo session :-)

early mornings suit pretty well as we can then go on a club-spin afterwards

I'm over in the US next week with work so it'll need to be the following week when we can talk.

I require some girls...oh you mean for the photos!!

PS: let me know when the photo shoot is, having recently learned how to jump on my bike I wouldn't mine showing it off.

Well you all seem like a bit craic, girls would be great as they tend to be better looking than the blokes. I will coordinate with Fergal when he gets back and I'm glad you are all up for it.

Question for Liam though: Now that you can throw your leg over can you ride too? ; )

Thanks again for all the interest.
