The Town of Winterberg in Germany is giving EPICmtb an all expenses paid Holiday to its Mountainbike resort . We've yet to decide who will get the prize but it will be in the form of a raffle
It will be a trip for 2 including Flights to Frankfurt, Accomadation, transfers and Bike hire and you will be the guests of the Town..celebrities in fact !!
Winterberg is about 1 hour east of Dortmund. It is the closest ski resort to Holland, has lived primarily from winter sports up till now and stages one of the World Cup Bobsleigh runs every February. However, as the highest mountain is only 840 metres and the winter's are becoming worryingly warm the regional tourist office has been looking to develop other activities. Cycling in general and mountain-biking in particular are coming in for a lot of attention as a result.
.
There are over 1700 km of marked mountain bike tracks in the area covering all levels of ability and fitness. The Bike Park is beside the bobsleigh track and has a number of different runs. It's served by chair lifts. There is also a summer bobsleigh track which I can imagine downhillers getting a kick out of.
If you want to see more, the following websites (admittedly only in German at the moment, but we're working on that) are useful.
www.winterberg.de

www.bike-arena.de
Of course there's the pub as well:
