View Full Version : Sunday Evening Blast Training Anyone?
Lads, I have NCT test for the car sunday at 12:30 so wont get out biking till afternoon.
I've always thought it isn't as much fun biking on your own so if anyone would like to join me, or invite me along to another spin, just slap a post here.
I was thinking either Blast course in Ballinastoe, which is great fun actually or Kindlestown and GOTD maybe.

Hey Liam,
I did a blast around Djouce last Sunday. I would highly reccommend it at the moment. Trails are in great condition (team worc or somebody has been busy on benchcut and GC is deadly) Ack never fails to please either. Best of all, in 2.5 hours, I didnt see one other person on the trails! A welcome change from the crowds of 3 rock and b'stoe.
Jaysus, surprised you didn't see Liam, Myself and Conor there. Introduced Liam to "Alan's trail" hadn't ridden it for a few months, incredible dry given the Summer weather, grintastic !!!!!

hi there... whats the going like there as ive not been there and could be about for a run
Yeah, even though I still have some scars from skiding into a tree, I enjoyed that Alans trail.
You talking about Djouce Jon? Still great fun up there, technical enough but lots to choose from.
Ok, plan is to hit ballinastoe for blast training for about 3 oclock, just myself and Shane G so far.
Anyone else wana come just post here.

whata spin!!
that course is absolutely class!!
first time dropping my saddle, but once I did the bike turned into a freeride/downhill/doeffinanything bike, at least that's how I treated her.
I don't take drops and don't do ramps, but after today I realise they taste good!!!
the bike does hates me, but its only a matter of weeks before I buy a big bike.
in the end we did the blast course twice, the second complete with timing. Its so damn tiring doing it in one run. Can someone tell me where are the bits suitable for a hardtail ;)
Yes, I agree, not much advantage for XC bikes but man is the course fun.
And Graham, jayzus man, you're like a downhiller trapped in a XC body!
When you get a big bike you'll be rocketing.
All that course is doable on XC bike but I can see the DH's leaving everyone for dust. Especially in those muddy bits where if you go anyway slow you just stick in the mud. But again, very enjoyable on the whole, I had a couple of spills, but nothing too bad, and fair play to all the people trail building!
Oh yes, meant to say, do not use spd pedals! You will need to be sticking you're feet out every now and then if you plan on going fast through the mud, and its impossible to clip back in with that thick mud.
Either use platform pedals or do what Conor did, use those kinda skate shoe with cleat on spd pedals with surrounds. Can clip in or still pedal without clipping in.
Where did you get those Conor?
