Any one fancy a leisurely spin up three rock and back down? I will be on my single speed so it wont be that fast but lights will be a must.

Thinking meet at Taylors for about 7:15-7:30 and head up from there.

I'm just wondering if it's advisable, you know, all us non-blasters gathering in the same spot, think about it -we could be wiped out in one fell swoop....I'd say Fergal has bred some kind of mongrel's from Rottweilers and Lions, with Richie Byrnes head on them...Like Rotbyrners if you will...I'm ascared, very ascared...I was WORKING!!Please spare me,...I'll redeem myself in Wexford, sob, sob,...

Slightly delayed, so I will meet you at ticknock carpark @ 7:30pm

Tom Heavey already submitted his note to me, he will not get savaged by the RotByrners, Colm is also excused- he has a new baby and is a big metal fan so he is doubly secure, err.....who else is safe....? Ben Fehily is also safe, as is Martin, Rob Higgins is over in France talking luuurrrve

If I was Ollie, I'd ride around with a bag on my head from sheer embarassment.

Paddy's excuse is 100% bent - banging his head of a tree I ask ya - how long has he been biking?! he should take example from Diamond-Edge, another REAL MTB'er who gave himself an awful clatterin' before the big day but still rode a stormer and can still go home to a beautiful new bathroom that's so wondrous he eats his dinner there and watches telly too.

Why wasn't Sean Downey racing? Too busy selling off the feckin secretary's long-sleeve jersey to someone that's why, if I see someone wearing my long-sleeve, size large, full zip kersey ye are in big trouble........

The following have 'til tomorrow to account for themselves before they get singled-out for public humiliation:

Oisin Fitz - where the hell is that lad? surely mended by now? off having a cappucino with Tarquin from Trinners dahhling?

Barry Metaller - where in the name of Satan were you Barry?

Richie Close - I'm disgusted - Richie - you would have died with delight on that course

John Hartnett - he better not have been hill-running...

Arek - too busy hill training up 3 rock on his road bike (yeah, I saw ya!!)

Karl Dempsey - too busy doing wheelspins in his Corrado

Cormac the ghost - too busy haunting the forum and not getting out on his bike

Phil - where the hell were ya Phil? you better have been building that wall up 3rock...

the other Tom - bring your note up to the teacher's desk!

I Richie's defense, I think he is on holidays. Or out on his road bike!!

John Hartnett has probably forgotten how to ride a bike, and sold his Giant for a pair of runners.

Karl does'nt like getting his bike dirty.

Cormac does'nt like getting himself dirty! And I think Byrner scares him!

i was at a 21st in malahide and was doing shots until 6.30am, i think i did about 12 hours of drinking in a row. then i had to jump on a dart at 9am, then get a luas from town to belgard for 9 hours of work in B&Q...so was a particularly hectic weekend for barry metaller, and even if i didn't have work i would not have been in any state to be blasting around ballinastoe, i'm still hungover now...

"Cormac doesn't like getting himself dirty" ha you should have seen the state of me and the bike after saturday.

but seriously, I have a really great excuse...... I couldn't find my overshoes

Ollie, if there are any spare bags going.......

Honestly I had every intention of doing the blast...picked up some sort of groin strain about two weeks ago and haven't had time or money to see a physio...fairly pi**ed as my marathon training was going really well up til now...i bet it was our chairman sticking needles in a voodoo doll since that day he caught me jogging

Well what ever about the blast we had a deadly spin tonight, just feckin class, Tom is already savagely fast on his new bike so give him a few weeks and he will be leaving the crowds for dust... I had an awesome night on the single speed nailing the lines I had been having trouble with a couple of days ago and the lads were buzzing after riding the down hill course, and all finished off by some chocolate cakes at the end.

Yep a McSavage spin, first time up 3 rock in the pitch dark, a hell of a lot of fun even if were plagued by some bizarre mechanicals.

cakes at the end of every spin is the way of the future.

The Blast... I was on my way when I was accosted by 15 bottles of stella and a bottle of cheap champagne and then woke up on a couch somewhere in Limerick.

myself and Morgan talked sometime back about adopting some of Byrners 'provocative verbal encouragement techniques', it's about time to put them into practice as I've been waiting feckin' ages for Morgan to abuse ye!!

In fact, I think we'll award points at the Club Champs for such examples of

'verbal encouragment'.

Let's have ye then......

I've used my note so much I better get it laminated.

Top noch spin all round - tomH being the biggest kid flying down the boneshaker with his new toy. Good fun all round

I am sorry Fergal... I have no excuse apart from I wanted to make some cakes, I will don my bag with shame and go stand in the corner with my single speed... lol

TomH

Yeah lads that was just what the doctor ordered, class spin-it was great to be able to put faces to the names. There was some inital reluctance to tackle the boneshaker, but with a slight diversion via some class trail in the woods the boneshaker was descended, and everyone was buzzing afterwards...

...Ok I don't really know how to describe the difference between what biking used to be like on my, how shall we say, my vintage NRS and tonight. I am still in shock, the thing just eats the feckin trail up...The amount of times I thought "Oh shit!here we go" and the thing just chewed it up and kept going...It's a different realm, I'm still in shock...It's like point, and squirt...A few probs with getting my new cleats into new pedals, and a snapped derailleur cable aside I'm initially very impressed, if a bit scared...can't wait to see how it goes when I get a feel for the thing and learn to trust it...fcuking hell, (shakes his head)

Yours spicily,

Tom

Yes, was good spin apart from my brake coming apart, well I took it apart and forgot to put it back together. So different up there in the dark. And always good to have a go at the Bone shaker.

It was a nice bike Tom, I'm a bit jealous, strange for the derailer cable to go so soon. Any way, like me you'll find that bumps, rocks, roots all just disappear when you get a good full sus bike, nothing like it.

Ah it's not really, you can see that it just snagged it on something, the way it was ping ponging through some of the ruff stuff I'm not surprised...
