Hey, Ryan and I were over there last weekend at one of the 7 Stanes trail centres for a race and think it's a fantastic area for mountain biking. There is loads of different trail parks to choose from all in one area and it's crazy how big the recreational mtb scene is over there - there were so many people just out for a Sunday spin on the trails park, with the whole family including their grandchildren and dogs, and most didn't even know that there was a race on.
The mtb trails at Innerleithen/Glentress are fantastic, superfast and flowy and with lots of cool rideable jumps. All marked trails. There is also a dedicated jump park on top which is super fun! Seriously, I'm so jealous of what the people have available at their doorstep and can only recommend going there. Ryan and I are considering going back there for an mtb holiday.
Also, we stayed in www.millburnhousebandb.co.uk (their website was just down when I checked) and can totally recommend it. The hosts (Ian and Carol) were very accommodating to us with regards to bike wash, secure overnight storage (in their kitchen) and great rooms for really good deals and pre-race friendly breakfast. They have 3 rooms, and we took the biggest (it was about 3 times the size of our bedroom) double room with ensuite bathroom for 70£ per night for the room, the smaller (but still big) other double bedroom was 60£ per night for the room and they also have a twin room (not sure for how much). Also, they told us they were considering doing 3 day deals over the more quieter autumn period (you may quote us on that). With the summer arriving now this is a great place for a short mtb holiday.
