NPS rd3 Davagh forest
0Some fast and brilliant racing laid on by Carn wheelers and in nice weather too
MAD xc racers were out in force again and great racing was had. S1 was won by Joe McCall [Focus] 2nd Gareth McKee [Banbridge cc] and a hitting form Alfie Wallace[Epic] in 3rd, 2010 masters NPS winner Oisin Boydell fin 5th racing for [Cycle inn/ktm], Ciaran Byrne [ducc] 8th and Richie Close in 10th [Cycle inn/ktm]
S2 race was dominated by a top 3 from Epic with a stunning win by Micky Dardis from Nps league leader Oscar MacAnaney then Colum McGarvey 3rd just ahead of MAD’s Fergal Kilkenny in 4th,Conor Conneff sprinted in for 21st with just seconds separating positions.
S3 :won by Robert Talbot [Harps cc] 2nd Karl Pae and 3rd Paul Bloomer [Harps cc].Phil McDonagh finished 9th and is only 1 point and 2nd behind series leader John Richardson [Epic] ,Chris Mollaghan finished 19th,Niall Horgan 21st and Graham Diamond 23rd,Rob Higgins[ucd] 24th.
S4 won by Steven Walsh [carn wheelers],MAD riders Eoin Moran 11th and Alan Ryan 27th.
Women S3 won by Caroline Murphy [Epic] with Claire Breslin [MAD] 2nd ahead of Kerryann Hughes [Harps cc]
U14 won by Conor Byrne [Boyne mbc] with MAD flyer Conor Lavelle 2nd and Joeseph Baird 3rd
by all accounts a well organised,top quality day for racing the NPS ,well done Carn wheelers,roll on the rest of the series,there’s points to be fought for!

NPS rd2 Nagles Co Cork
0Another big MAD race crew headed for rd 2 not far from Fermoy in Co Cork, the MBCC guys did a grand job with marshalls,sambos/coffee results and a good athmosphere but the track was disappointing and not NPS standard,really rough and rocky with almost no singletrack or enjoyable sections,lots of DNF’s on the day especially punctures. Some people rode practice lap then headed home! like the course or not its a race!!
Conor Lavelle won u14 outta ten lads who started and a good day for MAD ladies Paula Keoghan 1st and Claire Breslin 2nd in S3 with Caroline Murphy [Epic] 3rd
S3 me was won by John Richardson [epic] with MAD’s Cormac Ahern 2nd after a ding dong battle with Phil McDonagh[MAD] who finished only 4 seconds back
, Paddy Butler had a good day and fin 10th,Simon Kellaghan 13th and Chris Mollaghan 14th less than 20seconds seaparating these. Martin Butterly and Peter Bermingham both dnf
S2 .Epic’s Oscar mac Ananey won well from P coyne [.worc and Jim Haide [imbrc] 3rd,MAD riders Gene Ryan pipped Steve Scrivener for 13th place and were only MAD finishers.
S1 was won by Niall Davis [biking.ie] 2nd Tomasz Michalski [xmtb] and Dave oNeill [worc] in 3rd,MAD’s Oisin Boydell finished 6th racing for Cycle inn/ktm lots of dnf’s and lapped riders due to mechanicals

MAD Introductory Series – Day 3
0The 3rd and final installment of our Intro Series will be this coming Saturday 16th April. The location will be Ballinastoe Mtb Trails, the same location as Rd.2.
Meeting @ 9-45am. Ready to go @ 10-00am.
As before people need to be properly equipped with food/water plus a spare tube (or 2) and a multi tool of some sort. A rain jacket is be advisable also.
NPS round 1 Bellurgan park
0A fantastic days racing on a great xc track with features like a gap jump and a steep drop kept the MAD racers on there toes.a tough singletrack climb,those features then flowing fast singletrack was a real buzz to ride, nice weather helped too.
Savage racing seems to be going on in all the new Cats. in S1 xc legend Robin Seymour [worc] won easily with Mad rider Mark McGauley finishing 6th,Oisin Boydell,Richie Close and Ciaran Byrne all had bad luck and dnf with bike problems. The savage S1 cat line up for the start 
S2 was won by Motocross rider Brian Steele [vision racing] with Fergal Kilkenny,Gene Ryan and Stephen Scrivener getting 8th,9th and 10th in close racing,Conor Conneff finished 22nd also in close battles with only seconds separating riders.
S3 was won by Gary Shields [Cuchulainn] with Mad’s Phil McDonagh in a fine 7th,Graham Diamond 13th,Cormac Ahern 15th Paddy Butler 19th and Chris Mollaghan 21st again with small time gaps between riders
S4 was won by Ryan Walsh[Carn wheelers] with Mad rider Alan Ryan in 14th and Eoin Moran 27th and Wes Allen in 29th

S2 ladies was won by Orla mc Clean [Epic] with Rose Griffen [imbrc] 2nd and Mad’s gap jumping [see pic] Agata Tamulewicz in 3rd

MAD MTB Introductory Series – Day 2
0This session will take place on the Ballinastoe mountainbike trails on Saturday 2nd April.
Be there and ready to cycle at 10am!
Leinster League round1
0A superb days racing was had by MADmtb xc racers,a great event by Racing 795 held near Bunclody on a deadly but tricky and testing track which kept riders on there toes throughout.
First up was young savage Conor lavelle who won u14, this lad is on the up!
S3 women was won by Pauline Griffin [worc] but a fine 2nd place by Claire Breslin [xlaire], S2 women was won by Rose Griffin [imbrc] with another podium for Agata Tamulewicz in 3rd. S4 men was won by Simon Mulvey [epic] ,MAD rider Martin Butterly grabbed 2nd and is another rider to watch out for.
S3 was packed with over 60 riders! Race won by G shields [cuchulainn] and good rides by Cormac Ahern in 5th and Phil mcDonagh in 12th also Graham Diamond 16th and a 3man battle with Ronan Mooney,Niall Horgan and Aidan Toher all finishing within 30secs, deadly battles!
There was a popular and convincing winner of S2 in Fergal Kilkenny with good races by Gene Ryan just off the podium in 4th and Simon oConnor in 7th,Chris Byrne in 10th and Chairman Conor in 17th .
S1 was won by Richie Felle [thinkbike]with Joe mcCall[Focus mtb] 2nd and Mark mcGauley with 3rd,Ciaran Byrne 4th and Richie Close 8th and Oisin 10th.
Some tough but great racing and a great day for MAD well done everyone, thanks also to pit crew helpers Oisin Fitzgerald and Aine Conneff. Roll on the NPS!

Biking Blitz Round 2
0The Blitz round 2 was held on Sunday 20th Feb in Ballyhoura Co Limerick. A great day of racing was had by the MAD XC crew.
First up was young savage Conor Lavelle who won under 14′s, Conor also won round 1 in Ballinastoe.
Some really fast and flowy singletrack especially the last 5/6 km made for great racing even if rain arrived mid race.
The Baggy race was won by James O’Carroll (OC Tuning) with MAD rider Alan Ryan (uncleallo) in 18th.

The Superpro was won by soon to be road pro Ryan Sherlock who won a close battle with Rob Scanlon (WORC). Mark McGauley (MarkG) finished in 3rd, Ciaran Byrne (ciarsciars) finished 5th and Chris Byrne (cb102) finished 11th on his 29er. Simon O’Connor was going well in 4th when mechanical demons struck, he finished 20th. Well done to all the MAD racers its going to be a great season!
