Our Spring series of beginners mtb spins starts this Saturday in Ballinastoe. This will be an easy introduction to mountainbiking for first-timers or a chance for people to return to the sport. Please ensure your bike is in good working order and don’t forget your helmet. Check out our Beginners Page for more details on what to wear and bring.
If you have any questions, or if you just want to tell us you’re coming along, drop an email to the committee. The course is open to riders over 16 years of age. Riders under 18 must present a parental consent form to the club committee. Riders under 16 may attend on the condition that a parent also takes part and stays with the group at all times – please discuss this with the committee beforehand.
The first day will be around Ballinastoe on Saturday April 17th, meeting at 9.45am, departure at 10am – sharp. We’ll aim to finish about 1pm or so. You can find a trail map and directions here.
The beginners rides are running every second week – but you should make sure to get out on your bike in-between too.

Round 1 of the XC Development Series was a huge success with 165 riders turning up to give it a shot in the snow at Ballinastoe. Round 2 takes place on March 7th in Ballyhoura, Co. Cork. You can find full details at www.irishxcmtb.com.
As part of his continuing support of the XC Development race series, Niall Davis from Biking.ie will be taking two groups of five riders out for a pre-lap (or part thereof, due to the length of the lap) of the Ballyhoura race circuit on the morning of the race. The aim of the pre-lap is to help the riders get through their first race with some hints and tips. The prizes go to the first 10 riders to contact them via the form on www.biking.ie. And don’t forget there is also a prize for the winner of the Sports B race to receive a private training day with Biking.ie!

Attention Mountain Bikers,
The Dublin Mountains partnership is extending its volunteer ranger programme to encompass mountain biking. This is an important step for the Dublin Mountains Partnership and gives us the opportunity to be involved in helping to manage recreation through out the Dublin Mountains.
From a mountain biking perspective it is important that we get involved and help influence how recreation activities are managed going forward. We would like to encourage any mountain bikers who uses the area and would be interested in getting involved and giving something back to contact the DMP. Below is the official press release and website address.
