Hey,
We’re going to meet at the Yellow House at 11am (note the time change to accommodate hangovers!) for a spin up through 3 rock and maybe over towards tibradden etc. depending on weather. It will be a good opportunity to burn off some of those yummy mince pies! This will be suitable for everybody so come along - the more, the merrier!

Christmas Eve Spin (EARLY!!!)

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

From the keyborad of Sean….

Hi all,
This Saturday brings, along with all the festive cheer and frivolity, one last chance to get out on the bike before filling yourslves with turkey and losing all of that hard-earned fitness on Sunday.
To hopefully accomodate as many people as possible, we have decided that the spin will go ahead a bit earlier than usual.
We will leave the Yellow House at 8am (come a few miutes earlier please), the spin will last approx 2 hours, so that will still leave you with the whole day to peel brussel sprouts, visit your granny or maybe even start your Christmas shopping.
It will, of course, mean leaving your house in the darkness, so you might consider a using light of some sorts….it is better to look like a Christmas tree than get run over by a dosy driver.

Just so that we have an idea of how many (if any!) are coming, can you please reply to me (woohoo.downey@gmail.com) or call or text

Keep an eye on the website and your inbox for more details of more MADmtb spins over the Christmas period.
Have a very happy Christmas, from all at MADmtb.

MAD Club Championships 2005

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005
The 2005 MAD Club Championships are the highlight of our club calendar. It’s an opportunity to test yourself against other club members and to challenge your own skills. It’s also an opportunity to have a social winter spin and enjoy seasonal fare on the side of a hill. This year it’s taking place on December 18th - our last organised spin before Christmas.

Wednesday 14th (Night Fun Race … sortof)

Monday, December 12th, 2005

Meeting at ticknock entrance at 7pm. All with lights are welcome.

The plan is to head up and mark out a course of some form or another using my fancy new night course marker thingies (possibly using the club course depending on how energetic we’re feeling) and then run a small and highly disorganised race for the laugh.

After that we can head off down the boneshaker and try avoiding those big rocks that the mad person keeps putting in the way!

The Christmas Rush - Saturday 3rd December

Monday, November 28th, 2005

Christmas Rush

Hello all,

As some of you may know, I, along with Bjoren have arranged a sort of race for this Saturday (3 December). We have named it ‘Christmas Rush’

Venue and Time
The venue will be the MAD race circuit. This is located nearby the masts on the top of 3 Rock Mountain. It is a well tested circuit and we expect some very close racing on it. The first half of the course is a rocky descent which leads into a bermed forest descent and then a climb back to the start. The race will be starting at 11.30am sharp. We cannot guarantee that you will be allowed to race if you are late. We will be heading up for a practice lap an identifying any parts of the course that might be hard for 11.00am. We will be going from the Yellow House Pub at 10.00am or alternatively you can meet us in Ticknock carpark for 10.30am. We advise that you meet us at the Yellow House as it is more fun to descend the whole Boneshaker to Stepaside road when we are finished.

Format
We have a designed a fairly original race format to keep everybody interested, from the complete beginners to the seasoned racers. We will be setting people off in teams of two. We hope to be able to pair an experienced racer with a less experience rider or beginner. The qualities that will be taken into consideration will be: descending ability, climbing ability and sense of the course. We hope to have the teams as even as possible to make for some great racing. The team of two people will have to finish within ten seconds of each other or there will be a time penalty of five seconds for every ten seconds you are ahead of your partner. Each team will be timed and the times will be given to you at the end of the day.

Who is this for?
We cannot stress enough how this is for EVERYBODY. It will not work if only racers show up as it will be unfair. We want as many beginners as possible. I have made all the more experienced riders to promise to be nice and not push you harder than you want to be.

Race Fees
Put simply, there are no fees of any kind. You do not need a license either. We have done this to get as high numbers as possible.

If this ‘Christmas Rush’ is a success, there will be a possibility of another one in the near future. Feel free to contact me (Steve) on any details of the race via stephen_scrivener@yahoo.co.uk or 0861653925.

Regards,
Steve and Bjoren
