Hi guy’s
Tom here looking to get a few people out on a night ride on three-rock this wednesday at seven??
my no is 086-1713851
March 28th, 2006 at 4:51 pm
That’ll be more of a daylight-to-dusk ride. I hope to make it - will let you know tomorrow.
March 28th, 2006 at 6:00 pm
Once the mid week rides start and end in daylight (or at least close to daylight), I’ll be joining yas too…
March 29th, 2006 at 12:16 pm
I might pop along just for the road part. Shoulder and neck a bit fecked at the moment
Morgan, I’ll bring hte cash along tonight
March 31st, 2006 at 10:32 am
Anyone going for a spin on Saturday?
10 am YH as usual…?
Cheers!
Peter
March 31st, 2006 at 1:33 pm
Hi Peter,
I’ll be down here.
March 31st, 2006 at 2:34 pm
Hi All
Is there many heading to the trail building???
Geoff
March 31st, 2006 at 2:50 pm
If you can go to the trailbuilding you definitely should. The more people who help out the better the trail will be and the faster it will be ready.
(unfortunately i’ve to go get drunk at a wedding so can’t make it)
April 1st, 2006 at 7:15 pm
Where is the spin heading on the 2nd?
April 1st, 2006 at 9:10 pm
Hi,
The spin tomorrow will be heading where ever the wind takes us and who’s out, probably Crone via 3rock, prince willies and cloon.
Sean

Hi,
Sorry guys, spin cancelled today, weather was just that little bit too bad. When you see a family of ducks floating down the road, its not likely to be weather conducive to mountainbiking!

Hey,
If Peter reads this, could you mail the pics of Saturdays spin to stephen_scrivenerATyahooDOTcoDOTuk, so I can put them up here.
Thanks!

April 3rd, 2006 at 1:50 pm
Re: Interclub League Round 4
Will there be any other supporters going? I’m going to be there (still minus a bike, but I’ll cheer!) And there might be cookies!
April 5th, 2006 at 3:36 pm

April 7th, 2006 at 4:25 pm
Directions to Kindlestown
————————————-
Take the M11/N11 south to Kilmacanogue
Two miles or so after Kilmacanogue you’ll pass the “Eco Shop” on your left
Take the next exit signposted “Glenview Hotel”
Take the next right turn (do not cross the flyover bridge)
You’ll pass the Glen of the Downs golf club on your left, then take a right
The entrance to Kindlestown car park is on your left.
I won’t be out at all this weekend - I’ve contracted a disease.
April 7th, 2006 at 4:52 pm
Hi Shane,
For the race on Sunday, it is not neccessary to drive. If you have a bike, meet us at the Blue Light pub, this can be found by taking the road that goes behind Lamb Doyles amd following on up the hill a bit. Of course, if you are driving, you can park here too.

April 8th, 2006 at 5:10 pm
Deadly spin today lads and lassies. (Saturday 8.02.06) Kindelstown and GOTD are really great. Cheers!
April 8th, 2006 at 7:01 pm
Second that one, class day and great trails, switchbacks are classic, roll on more Kindelstown spins.
Geoff
April 9th, 2006 at 1:10 am
yea today was class lads. Cheers!
April 9th, 2006 at 5:06 pm
so, eh, just where exactly was everyone this morning then? this club has a big reputation to uphold and as you all know, I’m only a weak little fellow and can’t be upholding it all on my own. I finished 9th in the race.
In other news, y’all missed the finest day for a spin so far this year, myself, Karl from Sorrento, Epic’s Paul and Gordon from WORC took a trip over 3rock and down the wocawocas. Here, Karl and Paul left for home, so myself and Gordon headed over Prince Willies, caught and passed the sizeable EPIC group and headed down to the road and back to Sandyford via Enniskerry. Just over 2 hours from MAD course, up over and around to Lamb’s Croos, nice and fast, beautiful day for it. thanks Gordon.

legs were dead
April 10th, 2006 at 5:41 am
Me, my dodgy arm and sore ribs were off doing this race…
http://www.seaotterclassic.com/
Best course I’ve ever been on - 19 miles (mostly single track), 3200 feet of climbing and you ride around the Leguna Seca race track. (The one with the cork screw corner)
I even finished
http://www.seaotterclassic.com/2006/168.htm
I’ll post a report and pics soon…
Everyone - try to be in California some time for this - the weekend was amazing! I think I saw about 8 world champions from different disciplines…
April 10th, 2006 at 10:42 am
Wow Ryan! You not only finished you came fourth! Thats some achievement! Well done!!!
April 10th, 2006 at 2:13 pm
Well done Ryan,..Also BIG thanks to Hamilton for getting us all to head out to kindlestown, it was great to see such a positive response..it was a truly excellent day which I topped of with a few beers hence the no show on sunday(maybe i would have actually finished this one)..Maybe we should make more regular trips to kindlestown??
Tom
April 10th, 2006 at 2:24 pm
well done Ryan, that sounds absolutely deadly, I think a club trip to sea otter will be in order some year! the next question is…..will you be carrying that fine form into the first NPS round on April 29th?
Sean
April 10th, 2006 at 3:44 pm
Well done Ryan!!
that’s pretty impressive. Sorry I wasn’t out at the race at the weekend guys, I would have got lost… seriously, one of these days you’ll seem me out there!
April 13th, 2006 at 10:28 am
Quick question, whats the correct pressure for most mountain bike tyres? Cheers
April 13th, 2006 at 12:51 pm
For riding off road, generally 30-40psi. The maximum pressure will be printed on the side of the tyre. The minimum is when you get punctures from hitting things. Anything in between is fine and depends on your preference.
April 17th, 2006 at 3:50 pm
Hi.
That sure was one fine weekend of riding.
Saturday saw 19 (yes, 19!!) riders assemble for an easy spin up to 3 rock, taking in the clubcourse in all of its various guises and parts. Roddy wasn’t having the best of days, having several spectactular falls, felling trees, breaking bikes and being awarded a 9.7 for artistic impression and a staggering 9.9 for execution on the final climb on the last steep climb of the club course!
The Bank Holiday Monday saw 12 faces eager to work off those Easter eggs. We headed for a fast non-stop spin up and over 3rock via the aerials, mantiquila and the wocawocas before following up Prince Willies. Ryan, Marc and myself hit the carpark here then turned back to pick up the rest of the group on our way back. Mark Cosgrove and Paddy weren’t far behind, but we didn’t reach the rest of the group until we hit the top of Prince Willies again. Apparently Steve had forgotten about the idea of a non-stop ride and was holding everybody up! The reversal of the route meant we had to climb up the wocawocas again, at the top we met Ross McClure out with some Epic and WORC chaps. Mark Cosgrove and Ross acted like long lost brothers for a few sentimental minutes before everybody got cold and decided to move on downwards, home for a hot shower and a well earned lunch.
Roll on Castlewellan!!!!
Sean
April 18th, 2006 at 9:07 am
Hi all
Any takers on a repeat trip to Kindlestown this week, know people will be resting for Castlewellan on Sunday, and people are planning on going to support on the day (Myself included), so Sundays out…….. Wednesday evening or Saturday????????
All suggestions welcome.
Geoff
April 18th, 2006 at 9:52 am
Yesterdays spin was fun. Fairplay to Marc on doing all the rough sections (fast!) on his fully ridgid bike. I was laughing at the bumps on the way down with 6 inches of travel but he was never far behind! Very impressive!
April 18th, 2006 at 9:59 am
Mondays spin was indeed great fun … though pretty much my entire body aches at this stage so need to get rid of that before the weekend.
Geoff … i’d be up for a trip to kindlestown on wednesday if there was a lift going. If not i’ll be heading out local for anyone whose around.
April 18th, 2006 at 1:34 pm
Can take a body and a bike paddy, so lift is there for you,if wednesday is runner!!!

Tom here just wondering if someone was an existing member of MAD, and havent joined cycling Ireland yet what would they have to do if they were going to race on Sunday??
April 18th, 2006 at 5:47 pm
You can get a day licence at the race - this will make you a member of Cycling Ireland. You can put the cost of this toward a full licence later on if you like.
April 18th, 2006 at 5:48 pm
Thanks Morgan
April 18th, 2006 at 6:42 pm
Yes indeed Monday was good.
Pace was good but everybody broke up within minutes. The spin was inadvertenly broken into 3 groups. Sean, Ryan and Marc at the front. Myself, Paddy and Mark not far behind and the rest 30 minutes behind (less Mark Cromie, he was in a group of his own ;))
Being the good samartian I am, I stopped before descending the jump section of the Wocca Woccas to waitwith Mark Cromie for the few strugglig at the back.
Our Spin leader, Sean, deserted us. This left seven of us to fend for ourselves without a spin leader. Shocking stuff altogether if you ask me. I’d watch your back Sean, might have a Roddy after you fairly soon :O
April 19th, 2006 at 1:34 pm
yeah left all on my own lost in the wilderness of the mountains, luckly our steve saved the day…….
tom you should definitely race on sunday i’m gonna give it a bash, the bike is in the shop today gettin rid of that annoyin creakin sound, i’ll be all stealthy on sunday, well apart from the puffin and wheezin normally associated with my climbin…….till then chaps
April 20th, 2006 at 4:01 pm
Alright Lads and Lassies
Anyone fancy a spin in Kindlestown this Saturday? Space in the motor for two I reckon…could be a tight squeeze though!

Anybody feel like something closer to the Pale? After a few Kindlestown spins recently, it could be time for another Massy’s or Leadmines jaunt. I can’t make it (last time, I’m in the country again), but if there are any volunteers out there…
April 21st, 2006 at 11:38 am
Any spins for the morn planned or is it any man save?
April 21st, 2006 at 11:52 am
is it advisable to go for a spin on sat or should i save myself for the humiliation /race on sunday??
Tom
April 21st, 2006 at 12:06 pm
Tom,
Depends on whether you want the humiliaton (go for spin on Saturday) or glory (rest, but do 1 hour of easy / hard bits) in the race. Personnally, I’ll be resting and carbo-loading.
Sean
April 21st, 2006 at 1:28 pm
