The people have spoken! Sugarloaf this Sunday
It was a close-fought contest but the final result was in favour of Kindlestown and the Sugarloaf this Sunday. I expect to see 15 happy riders (and maybe 8 disgruntled Djouce fanciers) in the Kindlestown car park at 10am. The Sugarloaf could be considered proper mountain - so be prepared. Bring warm clothes and rain gear even if it’s sunny in the morning. Bring plenty of food too.
Directions to Kindlestown
————————————-
Take the M11/N11 south to Kilmacanogue
Two miles or so after Kilmacanogue you’ll pass the “Eco Shop” on your left
Take the next exit signposted “Glenview Hotel”
Take the next right turn (do not cross the flyover bridge)
You’ll pass the Glen of the Downs golf club on your left, then take a right
The entrance to Kindlestown car park is on your left.

Mel and I will be heading out to Slade Valley sometime on Saturday for a few laps of the Mad course and the IMBRC course. We were thinking of heading out there for 12ish (some time to sleep in :)) if anyone is interested in meeting us.

HI Ryan,
Undecided whether I’ll do beginners spin or Slade, if I’m doing Slade I’ll likely be there just before 12 doing a few laps of the Dash course and sections of the new course (the overall NPS race course hasn’t been finalised but we can do most of the sections)
my num is 087-792-7730 if I’m not at the car park when ye arrive….

As the summer comes to its all to early end theres a few ideas i’ve been thinking of that i’d like to put out there to see what the response is like, well here goes
1.The MAD Lash-..a night out on the beer, which has N.P.S. points going for it (number of pints sunk:)maybe a bbq if the weather suits??..
2.A proper deep into the wilderness overnight trek’ we could possibly use some of the an oige hostels instead of tents??we could watch deliverance the night before for added fear factor!!
3.The creation of an mtb bank holiday, like just pick some random day like a wednesday in sept and pull a sickie and we allhead off on a sunday style spin??stuff is always more fun when you shouldnt be doin it :)we could invite other clubs also maybe??just dont tell those mercenary’s at IBEC
thats my lot anyway so if your keen we’ll get the ball rolling!!

haha .. the MAD lash … a great idea and a great name!!
Actually .. there is goign to be a big party/bbq thingy at MAD hq in terenure at the very end of september. Not an actual MAD do but i’m sure we’ll invite ye all anyway.
We should probably get some training in first though!
I do liek the deep into the wilderness thing though. Perhaps a big long wicklow way type of trip, or even wales?

the mad lash not for me to young but the rest all sounds good the bank hoilday sounds the best a day off school might do me some good
August 18th, 2006 at 2:44 pm
lol..The day off school might not be such a good idea either my boyo..if your lucky it’ll fall on a mid-term or something
MAD does not condone truancy
August 18th, 2006 at 2:51 pm
we should also do a night ride sometime soon. dust off and charge up those lights folks. Should be plenty dark by 9:30 these days so no need to be out too late or anything
August 18th, 2006 at 4:11 pm
i can afford it i will be doing ty which is a dose in me school
August 18th, 2006 at 8:15 pm
Tom,
I really like the way you think - ALL those ideas are great, especially the bunk-off work and ride day.
MAD Lash? Brilliant.
Reckon Paddy would easily do me in that competition (all the training he’s being doing, especially his overseas intensive stint)…that brings us to the deliverance spin; I’ll start learning banjo right away.
Wales would be great to laugh at the funny accents, and pronounce placenames when scuttered.
PS: Shane-I have no idea what your last post meant-was that English or Tallafornian?
August 18th, 2006 at 8:18 pm
what i meant was transition year is a doss so i can afford a day or two off school
August 19th, 2006 at 12:09 pm
Goood so far, looks these ideas have some legs so keep the responses coming folks!!in relation to tommorrow i can carry two people…i’m in milltown but dont mind meeting up elsewhere….086-1713851..

Oh jaysus lads I just looked at one of my legs and it ain’t pretty! Rampant-sarcoptic-gorse-pox I think it’s called, no mini-skirts for me this week….
August 21st, 2006 at 11:42 am
Just get some opaque tights and you’ll be fine.
August 21st, 2006 at 11:45 am
saucy! now do they go over my head or on my legs?
August 21st, 2006 at 3:08 pm
Oh yeah, I look like I have a bad/selective case of the measles! A great ride, though.
Roddy’ll be up this coming weekend and we might do the ‘loaf on Saturday if anyone’s interested–probably an abbreviated version to keep us fresh for Sunday. I, for one, am a glutton for punishment!
