Due to the Marathon Champs, this weeks beginners spin will take place on Sunday. I expect anyone who rode the marathon to be going v e r y s l o w l y . . .
We’ll be riding in the MTB Mecca that is Three Rock, taking in Fairy Castle, The MAD Club Course, the Boneshaker and more! Meet at the Ticknock lower car park at 10am. We’ll also take some time to show you how to fix a bike chain.

sundays are for hangovers, marathoners wont be the only ones going slow.
September 18th, 2006 at 5:02 pm
That’s OK - you can sweat out a hangover in about 20 minutes.
September 18th, 2006 at 5:10 pm
so i might be the one going fast at this one
September 19th, 2006 at 8:32 am

Thanks a million

I know there is a hurricane of sorts en route, however i’m feeling the need pretty bad so if anyone is on for a night spin tonight let me know via the phone 086-1713851, i’m thinking 3 rock or K-town,so me let know soon if your keen, also i can give 2 lifts if we decide on K-town,…come on! please,
Tom

Tom, I’m up for 3 rock as I think it was originally planned for night spin there tonight (right Nigel?)
I think it’s 8 o clock for meet-up at the lower car-park. Stevie is giving me a lend of his lights so I won’t be headbutting any trees hopefully
September 20th, 2006 at 3:55 pm
nope, it is 7:15pm meet time acc. to MAD calendar

wow!! what a night-ride baptism (but not of fire) for me.
Dark, misty, spooky, mucky, gloopy, torrential rain, gale force winds, nightlights turning themselves off at really dodgy sections, superb views of Dublin with all the little twinkly lights on, entertainment courtesy of MAD: crashes nicely performed by Tom (double roll-over down bank and Noel (sideways flip into gorse bed that he nearly didn’t get out of), all in all a surreal experience as Tom put it for sure.
Yep, recommend it to anyone.
Only bogey was the amount of felling — unbelievable! - a lot of existing excellent tracks ruined.
Those Coillte boys don’t hold back when they hop into those death machines!
thanks to Scrivo for the lights (they are the biz, i need to get some fast) & Morgan for spotting my shoes I nearly left behind me!
PS: Tom I hope u got Hollyoaks recorded ok

Fergal
If you’re looking for lights I got these (they arrived yesterday) pretty good deal and all… http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/LS410A00-Niterider+Enduro+Hid.aspx .
Going to try them out next week, they better be waterproof as weather is brutal over here. Making me feel right at home!
Hope all is well with MAD…

sounds interesting…how about a beginners night spin? imagine the carnage:)
September 21st, 2006 at 11:11 am
Hah! “imagine the carnage” is an understatement to say the least!!! people could disappear into some of those muddy holes we encountered last night and not be seen again!!
thanks for the link Roddy, I’ll check ‘em out, hope the bikin is going well over there!

Yeah it was great fun, glad to hear you enjoyed it!the wind and rain were barely noticeable as a result of the focus needed,it has to be experienced by all…and it gives you one reason to look forward to long dark evenings..M.A.D combating S.A.D!!

No chance of making this spin a bit later is there? Like 12 up there? Want to party after the marathon
September 22nd, 2006 at 11:52 am
party AFTER the marathon Steve? party DURING it man- a few Bacardi Breezers mixed with your Hi-5, some rock n roll on your ipod, a nice party shirt (and a few unpunctured spare tubes)and u will be all set.
….though not too sure what caliber of local ladies actually hang around on Carlingford hill-tops lookin for Dublin party savages, I’m thinkin’ they’re probably not gonna be super-models…..but Nigel would have them all the same!! eh Nige??!!

Ha Fergal, you were not saying that today around the 30K mark lol!
September 24th, 2006 at 8:28 am
oh god I know Nigel, I was so physically and mentally wrecked at one stage that I had to cheer myself up by roaring abuse at sheep (super-model sheep now, not your ordinary black-bummed baa-baas!).
Commiserations to Morgan for his torturous detour - I’d have phoned Thunderbirds to come rescue me if I went even 10 yards off-course!!
Sean was complaining about a silty arse after jumping into a bog-bath - though he looks pretty cheery in this photo:

Well done to all who finished that, it was beast-savagery at it’s best/worst!

every muscle in my body hurts. I think I weas suffering more than the newbies on the beginner spin this morning.
I’ll get around to writing something more substantial once I sum up the energy to type…….
September 25th, 2006 at 2:05 am
Just to clarify, I wasn’t the slowest, I was staying back on the descents to keep any eye on Shane and to make sure no one got lost as I was wearing an illuminous jacket (honest…).
Thanks a million for the beginners spin! Really enjoyed it!
September 25th, 2006 at 8:52 pm
