National XC Champs - This Weekend

A gaggle of cloned Robin Seymours should provide some strong competition in this year’s XC National Championship. Banbridge CC are hosting the event in the new venue of Tollymore Forest Park, Newcastle, Co. Down. See below for full details.

    That was brilliant. Good weather for a change also. It was a great course - get the climbing out of the way and then non-stop singletrack the whole way down. I was in pain after 6 laps though.

    It was a fun event - not the same atmosphere as Kilruddery last year but a course that suited me more. I had a pretty good race. A crash on the first lap meant that I lost touch with the lead group but I was reasonably consistent for the rest of the race (apart from being dodgey on the descents on lap 6 and 7). 5th place was good - I was only 8 and a bit minutes behind Niall :)

    Picasa is being a silly bugger, but when it gets fixed I’ll upload my photos.

    Also, thanks a million to the people who where helping Mel and I out with the bottles! When your riding around for 8 laps and your at the start of another climb it’s so motivating to have someone hand you a new bottle and cheer you on - everything going smoothly. Also, especially, a huge thanks to Shane who has been helping me all year!
