Saturday Spin and drinks in town after
Afternoon all,
Saturday will be my last MAD spin for the guts of a year so I’m organising a spin to Kindelstown, Glen of the Downs and The Sugarloaf. We will meet at 10 - 10.15am at Kindelstown carpark and start with a couple of laps before heading on to Glen of the Downs and then to The Sugarloaf for some fun. This is suitable for all levels and it would be great to see a big crowd out! There are opt-out points after each destination so there’s no problem if you need to leave early etc. We will be finished in K’town at 1130; GOTD at 1; Sugarloaf at 230. If you can offer a lift then e-mail the group :)Bring the usual gear - food, water, minitool, pump, tubes, HELMET. A rain/wind-proof jacket would be handy for The Sugarloaf.
On Saturday night Tom has kindly organised the MAD-Lash Part Deux. We’re meeting in Hogan’s pub at 8pm. Who knows where this will lead…
Hopefully there will be a spin on Sunday too so keep an eye on your mails and the website.
If you have a question then contact us at committee AT madmtb DOT com

Hey Aidan,
You could probably do the first part of the spin (Kindelstown and Glen of the Downs) However, the Sugarloaf is a long, steep climb followed by a not very easy descent. Not a very beginner friendly hill.

i’ll prob be there, jackie has graciously offered my a lift
Judging by steve’s comment i’ll prob be giving the suger loaf a miss if anyone wants to hang in the carpark for that bit lol

Hello folks,
It is indeed for all levels. That’s the beauty of the place - can do numerous loops as fast or as slow as you like.
As Steve was saying, the Sugarloaf part is a bit of a slog so you can decide there and then if you want to do it!

Lift needed from city centre area at about 4:00am sunday morning, for two (hopefully ; )…back to my humble abode, no need for a bike rack, although a half eaten kebab rack might come in useful, cheers

jaysus that was deadly - even without the gulley, my poor holidays legs are ruined - rampant leprosy, RUINED!
Helen is gonna kill me - these were my special holiday legs, now they’re gonna fall off before I fly out on Wednesday!!!
damn well worth it though - creamed myself stupidly in gotd, half my rump is broken - jaysus - going on holiday with no legs and half an arse - what the hell am I gonna do!
Fair play to the Sugar Loaf gang who made it up and down - the trail after it was totally class - Steve herded those sheep like a real pro….

I dont know if its sun burn or nettle burn or gorse burn, but my legs and arms are in flitters!! Deadly craic on the sugarloaf and a great turn out in K-town too. I think 20 in all showed up for Nigels farewell spin. We clocked up 32kms in all, and I got over 50kmph, which I think was on the sugarloaf descent…MADNESS, but well worth the long climb. Roll on tomorow.

Deadly stuff altogether… Really helped following Eoins lines down the Sugarloaf I can tell you… Couldnt keep up most of the time though
Will have to spend a year in Spain, its the only way! Can’t wait to tell my parents that one. Wonder will they understand? Fergal, your crash looked like the hand of god just came down and pulled your front wheel out. And Eoins crash was nature getting her own back. That bush really gave him a good push!
Will have to drag people up next time, cut out kindelstown/glen of the downs if necessary.
